ZOMBIE THREAD!!!

Okay, so I finally did this, and can't get the pin all the way through anymore.

It's through enough that it'll stay together, but damn this was a tougher little mod than I thought it'd be.

A lot more angled cutting/grinding/sanding on a small scale than I was expecting!

And to open the windshield in car mode does remove a bit of HR's excellent alt mode stability (solidness).

I only read the first page of posts (which is uncommon for me to do then post) but wanted to say "this is :king :win and its all something we've already had & didnt know it. Just pointed out by our Primus-Feather homie like he found the first sign of something inside out OWN bodies and is pattened. Nice im gonna mad mine as well (since i have 3 of him, clsscs)

I had the same problem hwen I did mine, splendic. I found that when rounding the "canopy" to rotate on it's hinge properly, you can end up causing small burrs to form that will prevent the pin from going through the hole in the part that comes up from the "cockpit". Also, upon reassembly, you need to aligh the parts so that the hole through the hinge is clear. (I'm pretty sure you did that from what you're telling us. ) Finally, the ends of the pin are "knurled" (that cross-hatch pattern molded into the pins that prevents them from working their way out.), and this can be a royal pain as well. My advice is to take a small jeweler's hammer and a small nail punch (or finishing nail with a blunted point) and use them to set the pin gently back in.

I was so disappointed when he couldn't do that in the first place.

Thanks.

The issue I'm really having is that I can't hold the canopy and main section together to keep the holes for the pins lined up, while trying to tap the pin back on through. I need a vice or a third hand or something. ;)

Glad to see this thread is still in use and helping, Personally to get the pin back in I'd just screwed the canopy BACK together and then inserted the pin (Works better then trying to grow a third appendage.)

And now for an unforeseen addition to this mod, apparently when you add weak plastic a hinge and (apparently) mildly dissolving super-glue, the black plastic around the hindge becomes REALLY weak, So I just completely replace the black plastic (using some of housing from my acrylic paint set {Wal-mart}) Its MUCH more solid now and I couldn't be happier.

Honsetly, I didn't think of replacing the screw to aligh the parts! :lol :redface

As for the hinge joint, I simply reinforced it with plastic welder, and then used an xacto knife to clear the pin hole openings.
