Don't care for combiners but several of those limbs are pretty good figures on their own and worth buying just for that.

That pic is crazy. Does it really work or is it a digibash? Any way right now I'm trying to gather some parts together from the different combiners. I think if all things work out I might be able to put together more G1esque combiners. Over the next year or so I plan to reshell Barricade, and 4 of his tanks into the Stunticons, Barricade, 2 tanks, and the 2 helicopters reshelled into the Protectobots. Changing out one of Superion's jet with one of Bruticus' helicopters to make Bruticus look more G1. Classics Dev. will probably just get some new construction equipment parts on a couple of his limbs, E Superion is fine as is so I really kind of hope we'll see him rereleased by Hasbro through the Classics line. Computron could also be done using Superion's core, one of Superion's limbs, and 3 E Bruticus tanks reshelled into the other three limbs. I've got a Barricade, and I'm getting Bruticus and a couple of Superion limbs from STPrime so that'll get me started. :tfgrin

For the Storm Jet/Wingsaber combo, the person built some adapter blocks that fit into Wingsaber's sockets that let them attach to Storm Jets combiner ports.

 

As for the whole repaint thing, it's because the figures were not in the original plans for the line. They came to existence a lot further into production than usual, which limited just how much they could actually do with them. With cost concerns in mind, it was difficult to cram that many original figures in at the tail-end of the line. One option they had was to instead provide only two combiners with completely individual limbs, but in the end, they shot for quantity, giving us three combiners.

I love my Energon Combiners, even if Superion maximus has two blue/white A-10.

 

 

 

And especially if you mess around with the limb transformations to make fan modes.

 

 

Add them into classics and they are taller than the leaders for once!
