g1 episodes required to understand TF:TheMovie ?

Recommended Posts

The movie actually explains the third season, so you have to see the movie in order to understand.

You may want to watch the episodes with the Constructicons too, just to know more about Devastator as he seems to have an important role during the Autobot City Battle

It might actually seem all that more impressive if you don't.

Rent every Eric Idle movie that he made previous to voicing Wreck gar, then watch episode after episode of Unsolved mysteries to catch up on Robert Stakk who voiced Ultra Magnus, then watch all the Star Trek Movies 1-6 for Leonard Nimoy who voices Galvatron and rent the breakfast club for Judd Nelson who voiced Hot Rod. Then go out and find an old Weird Al Yankovic CD and listen to Dare to be Stupid until your ears bleed. Then you will be able to enjoy the movie fully.

I don't think they're required, but I do think they help you appreciate the loss of a ton of G1 characters in the movie.

This question assumes that there was an actual "story" in the G1 series. *ahem*

Trust me, it's better NOT to see S1 & S2 before the movie, 'cuz you'll be as pissed as everyone else was when the characters you've gotten to know so well all die or get shoved aside within the first 15 minutes. The movie is just a setup for S3.

Which you may want to skip as well -- all the cool new characters in TF:TM turn lame as hell in S3, with the possible exceptions of Springer, Scourge and Cyclonus. (I would add Arcee, but she was never cool in the first place.)

So why don't you just forget about everything else and just rent the movie. :tftongue

Dont worry, I've seen a couple of g1 season 1 episodes. But I haven't seen any other episodes beyond season 1 though. But thanx for your guys help. :clap

Thanks from me too....to both those that answered and Swardarin for asking....I was ready to ask the same thing...I had run across the movie somewhere and I had wanted to pick it up, but then I realized I hadn't seen any TF Gen 1 episodes so i didn't
