two words: litigious society.

They're complying with the law by putting the orange tip on the barrel (and the scope for good measure!), but that's not always enough for some people.

Okay, I will say that much is obvious but why then the outlandish green, purple and whatnot?

I just don't get the overkill on something that is already compliant with toy safety laws and for the most part resembles the furthest thing from any actual known firearm.

I know this debate is long past done but personally I'm just curious to know what this will mean for the upcoming MP Prime.

Will orange bits of plastic be "enough" or with it be skittle coloured as well?

Maybe I'm too evil, but I'd love for gangsters, bank robbers, and other random gun-toters to start painting their(real) guns' tips orange.

Just to spite US law.

As far as I understand it, Hasbro's thinking was that they would rather succeed at making it look like a Nerf gun than fail at making it look like a real gun.

It's sad that we live in an age when violence is shunned.

I'd almost like to say that I agree, violence being a part of basic human makeup... but...

That's just a bit extreme, no? It's nice to be able to go out and not be randomly shot. :tftongue

I think my favorite part of all this is that no one in the States will be able to have one MISB unless it's smuggled in their butts on a trip back from Japan.

I was assuming that would be the standard mode of transport.

In that they succeeded.

Guess better to win one way than not at all. :tflaugh

I'm sympathetic to that view, personally. On a creative level it's much better to say "I accomplished what I set out to do" than to say "I did the best I could and it kind of works."

set the standards low to succeed, (suck seed?)

or set them high and aurpass yourself (wait that only works in sports and career applications...)
