so if it can't be done then why does he have a cavity in his chest?

It looks like that's where the crotch halves would fold up in 80's-tastic cassette player mode.

looking at the picture you would kind of think that it could be pushed up but its not somthing i think would be thought into the design

WRONG'D! The crotch cannot move up. This was confirmed a while ago. Someone took pictures of the figures at Botcon or wherever from underneath the clear glass shelf and there is absolutely no way that his waist slides up. Soundwave has an enormous crotch. That's just how it is. Sorry :tdown

Where can that pic be found?

Also, (until I see the pic) I'm still willing to bet it can fit inside.

Look at the gold shoulder straps. I'm thinking you can flip the whole front panel up (buttons included) and it can slide up, then close the chst again. This way would allow the bulge of the crotch (for lack off better terms) to fit inside. Easily too if it was possible to share some of the tape deck compartment.

My theory. :thumb

ooooooooo....soundwave.

if u look at the pic we got here then it might be possible. bottom line is ill still get him eventually eitherway as soundwave is my fav g1 single character (also up there are OS and menasor) but if it can go inside its just a bonus to the appearence to the fact we finally get a good homage to our mind reading soldier. the gestapo of the decepticons
