MP Starscream

Wow, I hadn't seen anything but the original photos that were uncovered of that Unicron proto. After looking through that gallery I am so glad that toy was never released. That's horrible.

It has one. One plus on Armada-cron. The planet surface on Neo-cron is pretty nice. I would have liked some of that detail on the planet surface parts of Armada-cron.

Armada's the better toy IMO. YMMV.

I don't want to get too off-topic here, but Neocron's alt mode was a spherical planet. Armadacron's alt mode is something resembling a turtle crossed with an antlion. Also, Neocron had enough bulk to really be menacing, and would have displayed better with Primus being a very similar design aesthetic. Armadacron is very gangly and his transparent parts do him a disservice. BW Neo Unicron also wasn't as tall, which is good for me as I personally dislike having anything over 10 or 12 inches on my shelf.

In a way it's a similar argument to the two Starscream molds, in that one emphasizes the alt mode moreso than the other.

Nice work back onto the original line of the thread.

And really, it's what it comes down to in the end. It's a Masterpiece, just not the way many intended. Be it Prime, Unicron, Starscream, or heck, even Wheelies and Swerves, everyone wants something different in "thier" Masterpeice toys.

Some want a perfect alt mode

Some want the bot on the cartoon

Some want a "better" and "more badass" interpretation of a character

Some just want a new and untried design

In the end, it's like the old adage goes. You can't please all of the people all of the time. Taste is what makes us all unique, and indeed, EVERY Transformer figure something special.

Shortround has his gawky proportions, giant claws, and nerdy dweeb character. It seperates him from being a Seaspray homage.

Robot Master Mirage is a G1 redux the way fans love seeing them, and to many the way the mold SHOULD have been for a long time.

Reptilion is ugly as sin in both modes, has a questionable color scheme, and is debatedly a mediocre mold at best.

And I love em all. If Transformers weren't different, we'd HAVE NO Masterpiece, Energon, G1, War Within, Beast Wars, Micromaster, Beast Machines, Victory, or anything else! We'd be stuck with an army of near identical (but not quite) toys like Veritechs or somethin'...

So while some may not agree with the colors, or the way the mold is, or even if the name doesn't match, regardless of WHO or WHAT it is, I hope at very least they can respect it on its own merits, and not theirs.

Masterpiece Starscream, you are a wonderful jet, I'm sure. But your colors and odd proportions (as well as a slightly ridiculous price tag) simply leave you offering no interest to me. You are certainly a neat toy. However, you are not MY neat toy, and I shall pass you by. Would I buy you in "anime accurate" colors? That would depend on the result. I can't say for now. But as it stands, Mastepiece 03, you simply don't light my candle.
