The Price

I paid about $120 for my 100% complete in box Metroplex. I'd call the figure himself damnnear mint, but the box does have some tears.

I think Predaking may be the only TF that goes easily for $1000+ (and possibly a MISB Fort Max, but those are few and far between), but that's also because he's composed of five individual 'bots. Heck, single Predaking accessories go for something like $50-75 apiece, just for a hand or foot.

You're right....there is a MISB Predaking w/ 7+ days left going for $1650 already...that's ridiculous.

Well, it's also supply/demand.... if no one wants the item, the going price for said item could be potentially less than the asking price, and vice-versa, if alot of people want the item, then the price can easily go up and past the asking price, like the above predaking auction.

actually i've seen misb fort max's go for $2000-$2500. ultra rarities like metrotitan and the black version of g1 scorponok could go for over a $1000 easy, maybe even more than the mib fort max.

it depends how rare they are. the rarest of the rare, and there are quite a few, will cost megabucks to own, that is if you can find them at all. most people holding on to those aren't going to sell them unless they really have to.

the more common misb tf's from the 80's will generally sell between $200-$500 sometimes you can get lucky and find one that slips through for less, if you do consider yourself very lucky.

yeah but i passed up on a misb metroplex for $35

i went on ebay last night after posting on this topic and saw a complete mint loose metroplex, no box that i saw, for $405! :eek

i couldn't see anything about it that made it any different from any other metroplex.

check it out!

i'm stumped on this one, thats for sure!

Actually I’ve seen a few TFs go over the 1k price recently on various international auctions. Specifically Fortress Maximus MISB $2,600+, Black God Fire Convoy MISB 2k+, Skorpinok MISB $1k+, Predaking MISB Set 1k+, Lucky Draw Convoy Gold rims MISB 1k. Mind you these are some of the most highly sought after TFs ever, the ones you mentioned are not.

The G1 TFs you mentioned like Metroplex MISB, Galvatron MISB, and Skylynx MISB, rarely if ever reach the $600+ range. There simply is not enough demand for them and people are not willing to pay exceed certain prices for them. Many die-hard collectors already completed their G1 collection years ago and those who have not are paying premium prices to complete them now.

Of course, almost none of those except Scorponok and Fortress Maximus are regular issue TFs. Lucky Draws almost always go for $1000 + on eBay, because they're in such limited supply. The gold Micron Legend Convoy went for that much, with the gold Micron Legend Jetfire going for about $600-700. Fort Max and Scorps, on the other hand, were tail-end G1 and being such expensive toys at that time, are very hard to find now because relatively few people bought them. Not to mention that they both had a bajillion small and easily breakable/loseable accessories, complete sets have their prices driven up even further.

So what if they are not regularly issued TFs? Many people are not even aware that those exclusives exist and even fewer people watch TF auctions internationally to compare price trends. It is good to have reference to the global market as well.

I'm just saying that it's under special circumstances that they're actually valued that high. Most figures that you could actually find on the shelves won't hit that mark very easily.

And due to a recent Allspark thread, I've just been made aware of the Blue Optimus Minor and Green Ramulus figures, which are reportedly more rare then even the lucky draws. Mouth04 mentioned that wishes he hadn't passed on a Green Ramulus that was being sold at Botcon for $750! (but apparently, he has one of the few Optimus Minors in his posession)
