Alternators Bumblebee: with a huge upgrade

Recommended Posts

I doubt you will see a Mini as its owned my BMW, and they are as of yet, not wanting to play ball. However the SRT neon would make a nice bumblebee IMO?

Look where a companies headquaters is located, that is how you will know what nationality it is, Toyota can make all the cars it wants in the US, but that doesn't make it a domestic auto manufactorer. A better argument to use against the RX8 would be that ford partially owns Mazda. What do you have against the 8? While takara may be involved I can assure you you wont see a japanease car that isn't available in the states made as an alternator.

ok this was purely speculation. and yes Alternators is not G1, it has G1 nostalgia, but that only goes so far. also there is no story line, there is for Binaltech, but not Alternators. i agree the Mini cooper is the best choice seeing as VW has their heads up their exhaust ports, but i mearly left open a door for thinking non-linear when it comes to TF's. I mentioned this in particular, because it is brand new, and a limited edition, and the type of vehicle has a G1 throwback sounding name.

Only problem is he can't be a VW anything, because they said "no dice".  They don't want their product associated with war machines.

A Cooper is the best option that I've seen so far.

You just reminded me of something. If thats the case, then VW is full of El Crappola. Go down the hotwheels/diecast aisle of walmart and you'll see some boxed Corgi brand Military Vehicles. Among them is a VW Kubelwagen, the german army Jeep during WWII. Not only that, Johnny Lightning has one too. So wouldnt the very rig Hitler's soldiers were jockying in count as a war toy? Sounds to me like someone is one big fat hypocrite.

I don't think you understand. For one thing, Volkswagen may not have copyright on those vehicles anymore. But aside from that, it's because of those vehicles, and the history they represent, that German companies like VW are unwilling to identify their products with war. Fair enough, I'd say.

Ok, I can see what youre saying there. But on the box it says "VW Kubelwagen". Now even if they dont have copyright on the actual bodystyle (which I doubt, example below), it still says "VW" on it. I know they have the right to decide who puts their name on a toy.

As to the copyright running out, Im not so sure. Jeep has vehicles back to the '40s also and when you see any model of an MB, or Flatfender of that era they still have the little "R" in a circle for registered trademark anytime they use the Jeep name. That, and the 7-slot grille can only be used on a model if licensed. Which is why you see so many toy "Jeeps" that have funky looking grilles.

Either way, I dont really see how an new beetle as an alternator is a 'war toy'. Its more of a model anyway. Just my 2 cents, anyway.

It would be just a model if there weren't guns. (Or missiles, in the case of Tracks.) But aside from that, the Transformers brand represents "war toys" anyway b/c they're... well, in a war. A company like Porsche is going to be very careful about how it licenses its products, because they want to make sure that their name is not associated with warfare or weaponry. Who knows -- perhaps they weren't too pleased about the Bumblebee and Jazz toys, which were produced without Porsche's approval (as were all of the earth-style G1 toys).

Perhaps all this anti-war stuff seems silly to us, but Europeans are much less enamoured of guns and weaponry than Americans are. When your country has been the battlefield for two world wars, it kind of changes your perspective a bit...
