How do you collect your TFs, and why?

Recommended Posts

Are you a collector doing it for future monetary gain?

Do you keep yours MISB, or MIB?

How do you display your figs?

What are your standards (accesories that they come with) for making purchases of figures?

Any particular vein of TFs (series, subset, etc) that you can't get enough of?

Any veins that you couldn't be paid enough to collect?

I'm just curious.

As for me, I will never collect figures MISB - I enjoy transforming my figures from time to time, and I like to display the figures in robot form on shelves. I will purchase them MIB, and keep the box in a cedarchest. I don't do it for future monetary gain, however if the time comes down the road I wouldn't hesitate to sell them, if I needed the $$.

As for my standards, I prefer to get as many accessories as I can. If it's a power/target/headmaster, I HAVE to have their accessory figure.

As for my favorite veins, I'm switching to mostly collecting G1 stuff, by and large off of Ebay. I adore the head/target/powermasters, and combiners. Eventually, I will own all US released figures of those subsets, with all accessories.

As for "won't touch 'em" veins, I don't much care for the animal based figures, such as Beast Wars. Also, those combiners such as Sixliner........yech.

Nothing MIB for me ever.

complete as possible when I buy them, but now days you can almost always track down the accessories you want/need later.

I collect whatever the current series is, usually to completion with a few exceptions-->universe ruination, for example. I have most/all of BW, BM, RiD, Armada, and Energon and a good number of G1 figs so I'm really only after new stuff.

As for things I won't touch....Action Masters come to mind, but I'm sure that if I could find some cheap I wouldn't turn them down.

I free them from their cardboard prisons as soon as I get them home. Sometimes sooner.

I collect almost anything that I think looks cool. Could be anything from G1 to Energon. I have a bunch of knock offs as well.

I tend to stay away from the beast ones as well. They just never appealed to me for the most part. There are some exceptions to that though.

I've gotten into collecting Energon because thus far, all the toys have been gold. I collect for entertainment value, nothing more.

Are you a collector doing it for future monetary gain? Nope

Do you keep yours MISB, or MIB? Nope

How do you display your figs? Open, in all their glory, in a cool pose (if possible) on my shelf.

What are your standards (accesories that they come with) for making purchases of figures? As long as the figure looks cool, accessories dont really matter...usually they gotta at least have a gun or somethin though

Any particular vein of TFs (series, subset, etc) that you can't get enough of? Alternators, and Takara PVCs

Any veins that you couldn't be paid enough to collect? The majority of Armada

I collect MISB not for monetary gain, but for personal preference. That's just the way I like my TF's. I enjoyed playing with them as a kid so now, I just like to display them in boxes as they look cooler together :)

When I buy a new transformer, I think about keeping it MISB, but usually after about half an hour I gotta play with it. (I'm 28 years-old and married, my wife thinks I'm wierd). 20th Anniversary Prime stayed MISB for alomost a whole day! He looked so cool in there. I had all my Beast Wars boxes and stuff, but my wife talked me into throwing them out last time we shifted. (Women can be very persuasive!)

I will keep my Alternators and 20th Prime boxes though. God knows why, I'll never sell them. I really regret throwing my boxes away.

I like to think of myself as a collector, but I'm really nothing but a big kid.

I just buy what I think looks cool, and good characters influence me too. (I bought waspinator because I liked the character). G1 homages work for me too. I'm not really into Energon, but I had to buy Arcee because of the G1 homage and the cool little motorbike (almost to scale with the alternators!).

Are you a collector doing it for future monetary gain? not really i just told my dad that

Do you keep yours MISB, or MIB? no way FREE THEM!

How do you display your figs? well i keep my armada and my energon in their groups decepticons and autobots as for my g2 amd bw i keep them together

What are your standards (accesories that they come with) for making purchases of figures? what evers got good stuff on them

Any particular vein of TFs (series, subset, etc) that you can't get enough of?

energon and yes...... some armada but g1 and alts i'd love some of

Any veins that you couldn't be paid enough to collect? not sure

I take mine out of the box's. Though I usually buy 1 Transformer MISB about every 20 Transformers I buy and I keep him MISB. Its just like a time phase or something that helps build up my collection slowly.

I pose mine on shelfs and keep them that way. I usually transformer each one every few days. I do sometimes keep the box's, but because today there is no styrofoam etc, its really no use in keeping the box. I mean I'm not going to put my toys in a box and have to rewire them all with that wire that holds them in, its just too difficult. If it was all held in with styro like back in the G1 day it would be a lot better and easier to keep the box's. But Styro is not used anymore. So I usually just keep the instructions, etc for them and thats it.

I collect because I love to play with toys and I love toys that look cool. Sometimes I like to collect something because it is worth a lot of money and thats just something cool to have for any collector when you find something you really like and its even worth some ca$h.

For veins of a series. I would have to say Alternators. I just got Smokescreen and I am totally hooked!

Some rare pieces I keep MISB but most of my collection is loose on the shelves. But in the last months I keep the most valuable inside the boxes to protect against the dust. I collect TF toys from different series. For me the important things are poseability, articulation and good modes.
