Could TF Classics be considered G3?

Recommended Posts

As a fan of the post-movie Transformers, I consider Rodimus' era to be the pinnacle of G1 (in the sense that the chosen one led the TFs through their darkest hours) and the Action/Power/Target Masters to be more G1 than the Alternators. For me, it's more about futuristic transforming robots in the 21st century than robots in disguise in 1985.

I know not everyone will agree with me on that.

I would say that TF Classics Prime is every bit as much G1 Prime as Action Master Prime, Power Master Prime or Machine Wars Prime.

So it's G1 but without a cartoon. I have a feeling we'll see a comic tie-in.

Infiltration, IMO, is "What G1 would be like today."

Binaltech/Alternators is a weird alternate G1. (It's not G1 without Unicron and Rodimus Prime for me.) I suppose you might consider Alternators to be the continuation of the Marvel Comics G1 continuity. Alt Prime even looks a bit like Power Master Prime/Ginrai. Alts aren't quite a reimagined G1 because they still crashed in the 80s and Jazz was a porsche before becoming an RX8, etc. This would make Alts a continuation of the G2 comics which were a continuation of the G1 comics.

While the bios don't support (or refute) this theory yet, I want Classics to be a kind of "Post-Rebirth" G1 animated concept. I know that there's a limit to how much the toons can be referenced directly but if there is a TFC video or comic tie-in, I'd like it to start with Goldbug becoming Bumblebee again, Galvatron deformatted into Megatron (which may account for the funky purple bits), Starscream returning and Rodimus dealing with no longer being the Autobot Commander. It could be treated as a more or less direct sequel to the animated movie with the 1984 characters and concepts returning to a world that is post-Unicron and post-Nebulon. I think that fits with the futuristic designs in TFC and with this line being crosspromoted with the movie DVD.

Classics G3? I never thought it that way :wtf

Generation X>Generation 3

Letters are far cooler than numbers

numbers are for boring people who are squares and live in cubicals and waer uncomfortable stupids pants thata re stupid

Generation X now that's EXXXTREEEMMEEE!!!! And are probably not virgins due to their over the top and wild lifestyle

Technically, Machine Wars could be construed as Generation 3. I'm not sure if anything will ever collectively be known as G3 though. Each series has a name now and it sort of eliminates the need for fan names.

not g3

Generation really implies new characters or offspring of the original characters. That's not what the classics line is so I don't consider it G3.

:pfx

IMHO, the Beast Wars should really be considered Gen 3, solely because they are the next generation of Transformers...Smaller, more fuel efficient, and FULLY KNOWLEDGEABLE OF THEIR G1 ANCESTORS. G2 was simply an escalation of the Great War, with lots of extra Liege Maximo bullsh*t thrown in.

So to sum that up, if you're looking at this as a marker of Transformer "evolution", then logically, the title of G3 should be given to the Beast Wars bots.

JMO and stuff :thumb

IMHO, saying that it's an alternate universe G1 kind of eleminates the purpose of the line because these toys are suppose to be the exact same G1 characters. if it is an alternate universe then it's not really G1 but something along the lines of the A/E/C Universe.
The characters were awakened in the 80s and wouldn't have a modern design like that. There'd be oldstyle VW beetles and cassette players, not bullet trains and nerf guns.

In an alternate universe, they'd still be the same characters, but with slightly different settings and situations. And alt modes.

I just think that the Classics line is G1 characters who updated their vehicle modes.

I agree, which would make them G3 in my eyes.

Of course, Alts are technically G3 in terms of continuity too, but only in Japan, so that's like Masterforce imo.
