Legends of Cybertron

The local K-Mart FINALLY started stocking LOC, and for $1 cheaper than the Anime store I'd been getting them at. Now with a total of 7 LOC's (not counting my "spare" Starscream I repainted in War Within colors), here's my opinions:

Hot Shot: Sad to say, but in my opinion this is probably the worst of the lot. He's incredibly floppy, nearly unposeable, and his only saving grace is the decently cool car mode. I would assume the same applies to the red repaint, as well. 3 out of 10.

Starscream: On the opposite end is Starscream. Excellent poseability, nice and tight joints without being too tight, and an excellent transform that only leaves the top of the head visible. If he had working elbow joints, he'd be absolutely perfect - and I would assume this applies to the multitude of repaints, too. Really nice alt mode, too. 9 out of 10.

Optimus Prime: Eh, while nice looking in bot mode, his posability leaves much to be desired. His alt mode is VERY long and doesn't resemble ANY kind of truck except MAYBE a Cybertronian one, and every time I flip the shoulders back to form the front of the cab, it feels like they'r going to snap off. As before, I assume this also applies to the repaints. 5 out of 10, only because he has no floppiness issues and is nicely detailed and proportioned.

Megatron: Ignoring the (in my opinion) hideous color scheme, Megatron is a decent figure. Poseable legs, and vaguely posable arms, with the wicked car mode everyone calls the Batmobile. The leg transform is a little finicky, but otherwise a pretty good little fig. Blah blah Galvatron repaint. 7 out of 10.

Evac: Another excellent mold. The arms are barelyposeable at all, and the torso is a little short, but it still whups the tar out of any other similarly scaled helicopter TF or Gobot or what have you out there. If I could find another one, I'd be repainting it in a heartbeat into a rescue chopper a la Blades. 8 out of 10

Soundwave: This one was quite disappointing. I have never liked Cyb/GF Soundwave's "wing backpack", and it's far more blatant on this figure. In addition, one of the feet popped off, and it was nearly impossible to pop back on. And finally, the transform was the most finicky of any LOC I've had yet, and took me longer to get the legs and "shield" in the right position than it takes me to transform 20'th Prime. 4 out of 10, only because he stands still quite well, and has decently poseable legs.

Vector Prime: Probably one of the simplest of the LOC transforms,he still looks very nice, and the paint apps are actually better than I expected (and the 'wings' aren't made of rubber, heheh). Poseable legs and vaguely poseable arms, but the head doesn't move at all, and the face is VERY visible in ship mode. However, it's still a quality figure. 8 out of 10.

I did not get any repaints, nor did I get any of the Beastformers (I am not a fan of beastformers). I chose not to get Red alert, because the look of the figure in bot mode just did absolutely nothing for me. And if there are any I have yet to mention, I simply have not yet seen them in stores.

Anyone else have any opinions on the LOC's now that most (all?) of them are out?

Eh, I have most of them simply b/c I like smaller versions of bigger toys. I loved it when they did the same thing w/ RiD and really love the WST, so I kinda like these. They probably could have done better, but for what they are (cheap versions of bigger toys), I like them.

I bought 5 different LOC's only because I wanted to modify them. Now they look great, but originally they were crap. And EVAC was the worst of them all. I agree with you about Starscream, absolutely love that toy.

I believe I've written something about these a while back, but anyhow, here we go again:

Wave 1:

Optimus Prime: He's ok. His paint apps are wrong, but his transformation is still true for the most part to his Leader-sized counterpart.

Megatron: He has balancing issues; he tends to fall backwards unless you put him in a slightly squatting position (sorta like most of the 3" Titanium figures). His arms are also in a weirdly angled fixed pose.

Hot Shot: I personally really like this one, seeing has how he's pretty much the same as the Deluxe-version, just minus elbows, knees and feet. He could use some more paint apps, though...

Starscream: Without a doubt, this guy's the best one of the batch. Looks great in both modes, despite the fact that he lacks elbows, and has a different paint pattern.

Wave 2:

Leobreaker: Kinda meh, you can see his robot fists in beast mode. Would've been great if you can combine him to Optimus, but no dice on that.

Scourge: Very disproportionate, unlike his Ultra-sized counterpart. I really don't like this guy, he looks like he comes from some distorted nightmare. His tail also doesn't come off as his axe.

Evac: He's.... ok. His proportions aren't as good as his Voyager-sized version, but I can tolerate this guy... barely.

Jetfire: I'd say that Jetfire's the 2nd best guy after the Starscream mold. The only oddity is that his arms don't slide forwards at the shoulders like the Ultra-sized version. That, and you can't really put him in his "Force-Chip Activated" pose without having him fall over.

Wave 3:

Galvatron: Mostly same as Megatron, but with a cooler color scheme.

Vector Prime: I like this guy mainly because he's almost exactly like his Voyager-counterpart, despite the dumbass transformation used in both sizes. He could use a bit more paint, but that's to be expected by now...

Soundwave: I'm not too crazy about this one personally, mainly because he doesn't look too much nor transform like his Voyager-sized counterpart. I mean, as a "new" figure he's pretty cool, but since I figure he's supposed to be a "mini-Cyb.Soundwave", I'm not too fond of him...

CD Red alert: He looks great as the rocket launcher, but not so great as the robot. Like Soundwave, he's not quite a miniaturized Ultra-CDRedalert, so I don't like this guy much...

I don't have Wave 4 yet, so I can't say much, but I'm sure Galaxy Force Optimus Prime, Excellion, and Sunstorm can be compared to their previous decos...

I only have Megatron. He's okay, apart from his colour scheme.

I plan to buy Evac and Scourge soon.

I have Evac, Scourge, Starscream, Megatron and Soundwave.

I like Starscream, and Scourge the most out of the lot, I just wish there was a smidge more articulation.

I would of picked up Vector Prime, but the toy looks like a bit of a downgrade from what's on the packaging. (If you look at the LOC figure on the box, it looks like he has balljointed elbows, but the final toy doesn't have anything that looks like that.)

I'd love to see the line continue with Classics, or past series like Beast Wars or something.
