Poor quality Mini-bots

Recommended Posts

So, I got my Mini-bots yesterday. Lovely packaging from Takara. I open 'em up and transform Bumblebee first. Very nice. Stiff joints, nice new head. Great stuff.

Cosmos- nice, stiff joints. Oh, his head won't stay up. Maybe if I pull it harder (fnar). Almost, but not quite.

On to Huffer.

Oh, his head's come off.

Yup, while transforming him, his head/cab actually came off. Three times.

And is Gears' rubsign supposed to be on sideways?

And all the minibots also have poorly applied stickers. Sloppy work.

The one good thing was the surprisingly good arm articulation on Powerglide. I've never owned one before and was pleasantly surprised at his arm-movement.

So, has anyone else noticed problems with these toys or did I just get a bad batch?

The plastic "film" on Cosmos' rub sign was peeling when I took him out of the box. Kinda disapointing. That's all though. Sounds like you might have just been shafted. ?

Mine is in the mail and I hope this is a fluke. I'm sure Hasbro will do something similar down the road, in any case....

Yep, all mine were fine, stickers included, though some of the placements ARE different than the originals-- it's because all of them have both a Rubsign and a regular sticker faction symbol, whereas the originals had either one or the other.

keep in mind that in some cases with the reissues, they're mixing and matching the molds from more than one set, which means some of the parts don't mate up perfectly.

Of course, a lot of people seem to forget just how loose and floppy the joints on some of the original G1s were to begin with...

No issues with my set. Now the G1 keychains on the other hand, that's some quality knockoff plastic right there. :)

It's the el cheapo Fun4All ones that I'm referring to. Get what ya pay for though.

That's a good point Junkers, but it is 20 years later and they charge a helluva lot more for them now, so I think we should be allowed to expect at least decent quality products....

Only problem I have is my Cosmos head won't stay up, and I have to force him to get him to Transform :tdown
