Please explain what you mean.

modified just enough to avoid liscening issues. kind of like how RID X-Brawn looked like a real suv but wasn't 100% accurate.

My point is how are they modifed enough to get away from liscensing?? They still bare all the car model names, iconic symbols, and all that. It's not like they removed the car logos, like they do in some movies, so that they don't have to pay liscensing fees of any kind. And Hasbro will get the toy rights to make those cars toys.

Or maybe I'm wrong and just don't see the picture here.

i don't know, maybe the liscening rights are different since these vehicles will be made into toys.

and BTW, i apologise for the "OMFG FANGASM!!!" coment. it was purly innocent, i didn't know that it could be translated in to "Fanboys are drooling retards".

I'm on the whole looking forward to the film, and i'm sure i'll enjoy it but theres nothing wrong with not getting all expectant that it will be the ultimate film since that attitude often leads to dissapointment ( Revenge of the Sith ).

I don't think anyone truly thinks that it'll be the ultimate movie. But I do believe it has great potential to be successful and a good fan-wanker.

imma drive 100 miles to see it....im gonna buy the toys....(as long as they transform) and im gonna buy the dvd..................and thats even if it sucks

No You Are Not The Only One...

Trust Me, Tons of Others will be Like That Too!!

Will reserve judgment untill I have actually seen it.

But I WILL see it in cinema's (if it is in cinema's in The Netherlands) and I will get the DVD. No doubt about it.

Anyway you look at it; it has been billed as the hottest movie for the 2007 summer season. With Paramount and Dreamworks working on this film who knows how it will turn out. Lets all hope it doesn't become a major flop and embarassment for TF fans everywhere.

So true! The more you guys think and talk about this film - and especially those of you who are trying to form premature opinions about this film - the more you are going to hate it when you do see it.

Whether a movie rocks or sucks is highly proportionate to what your expectations for that movie are. If you've been building constant expectations about this film ever since it was announced, then chances are, yes, you are going to be in for a major disappointment. Even moreso if you've already decided to hate this movie (self-fulfilling prophecy).

This is why I generally refuse to partake in threads that talk about the movie - this thread is more about opinions about the movie rather than being about the movie itself - but this is about as close as I'm gonna get to becoming involved in a movie discussion until the movie comes out. The less I know about this movie and the less I talk about it, then the less likely I am to build over-inflated expectations about the movie.

I've thoroughly enjoyed watching all of the Star Wars prequels, but part of that reason could be because I never allowed myself to become grossly involved with pre-movie gossip (although some of the toys and movies had annoying spoilers... especially Ep2 Anakin's arm gimmick... I'll never forgive Hasbro for putting that fcuking figure in the first wave...)

What I am generally expecting from this movie is basically what I generally expect from any other fantasy/scifi/comic book adaptation - something that portrays the overall spirit of the original source, not a remake of the original source itself. For example, I never expect any of the X-Men or Spiderman films to be faithful adaptations of the comic books. But they do encapsulate the essence of the comics - moreso X-Men than Spiderman IMO. The greatest flaws of the Spiderman movies IMO are:

* MJ = Gwen Stacey + Mary Jane Watson. Some of my friends who have never read the Spiderman comics got hell confused by movie MJ and wondered why she had a split personality. When I explained that she was two characters rolled into one, they said that it made sense, but was badly executed. I think it was a mistake to try to maintain the Gwen character inside MJ, because when MJ became MJ, it made no sense. Thus her character instead becomes very poorly developed.

* Doc Ock should never have had a split personality. Bob Saget, the movies are just too full of whackos with multiple personality disorders!! First there was MJ, then Norm Osbourne/Green Goblin, then Dr. Octavius/Doc Ock... AAARGH!! The only sane dude is Peter Parker, and he swings around on a web in leotards!!

* Wait... this so-called brilliant physicist is trying to harness nuclear energy from tritium?!? Fark orf!! If you're going to make up some bullBlot plot device, please make one that is at least half believable! Try using an element that's actually - oh I don't know - RADIOACTIVE for one. If you don't want to use an existing element, make one up! Nobody can argue with you over a fictional element, but we CAN argue with you if you incorrectly use an existing element. There's no Powerglideing way you can create nuclear energy from Powerglideing tritium! With X-Men, they can easily say that Adamantium is the hardest metal known to man, because this metal doesn't exist in real life. So we can't really argue with it. Even something as "Octavium" would've been better. (-_-)

...what were we talking about again? :P :D
