Do you think C-Prime's super mode is overused?

Recommended Posts

Optimus Prime is old so he probably can't fight as good anymore like in G1 without all of the fancy tech, that could be one of the reasons why is always uses a supermode.

So you think Optimus Prime never abused his super mode in G1, eh?

Your Honour, Exhibit A... 141ps.jpgUS%2042.jpgUS%2066.jpgHardbacks.jpg

He very seldomly ever got out of his super mode at all... almost lived in super mode 24-7...

In G1, Optimus didn't have a supermode, if he did he RARELY used it. In Cybertron Optimus uses his supermode like.... every hour, I really like Optimus looks with his supermode, but I really didn't get with him using it all of the time. Yes it could be a upgrade and I do feel it is, but I feel that Optimus in energon looked weaker than in Cybertron.

I mean... in Energon there are four little vehicles that form new arms and legs forming a supermode, plus his cheat opens up. He actually looked and felt smaller and weaker with a SM in Energon than with a SM in Cybertron. In Cybertron, he looked quite strong with it, and I abseloutely loved the SWM (Sonic Wing Mode).

OMG!!! :lol That is SO true! Optimus Prime is such a bully, and that comic portrays this fact perfectly.

Umm no. The comic actually shows huw much prime uses the supermode in the smallest and weakest situations in other words... the comic shows that Prime's SM IS being quite overused.

Despite being a big Optimus fan, I have to side with Satanstorm on this one.  There were definitely times during GF that he was being a bully...

When he supermode'd Ransack and CZ when they were practically on their knees, that was being a bully.

I believe he did it because Ransack and Crumpelzone were being real pricks, and worrying Optimus to the point until he had no choice. I really don't blame him, I'd do the same thing if some jackasses were bugging me to death about FIGHT ME! FIGHT ME! And besides, Optimus really didn't do that bad to them anyway.

What's funny is it's supposed to be a Super Mode, and no one gets trashed. Heck, the only one who actually dies in the series is Galvatron, although technically Crumplezone did die, for a while. At least in the IDW series you actually see the 'bots get wrecked when they blast the crap out of each other.

It's always a little annoying that we have this giant robots using seemingly non-lethal weapons on each other.

If you realised your normal mode couldn't hold a candle to the regular Decepticons, you'd use your super mode as much too. Plus, too bad Convoy doesn't realise he isn't really powerful unless Galvatron pisses him off. So basically his super mode is crap vs Mega/Galvatron.

Did you forget Vector Prime? I think he did die, well... sacrificed his life. But he did mention that he shall always be "there" to be the Autobot's guardian.

In G1, Optimus didn't have a supermode,

Yes he did. Are you blind? When Optimus Prime merged with his trailer he became Super Optimus Prime, and he virtually lived in that mode (even when surrendering to Scorponok!! Cos ya know, nothing says white flag more than a huge honking Super Mode - the Autobot Targetmasters and Headmasters are forced to surrender their Nebulans, but Optimus Prime gets to keep his trailered super mode! Then SURPRISE SURPRISE he punches his way out of his prison cell!! Poor Soundwave...) -- I can only recall maybe 2 or 3 instances when he wasn't in Super Mode, and none of those times were ever in combat.

:thumb  ah that comic was cool, it actually made Scorponok suprisingly noble and warrior like despite being a decepticon commander. Shame that all the other characters to bear the name have never been as cool.

Maybe Dark Hunter means the G1 cartoon? Prime never needed a supermode to whup decepticons back then

Oh you mean in the comics? Well I didn't know.... all I know is, Prime NEVER used a supermode on the G1 show. That's all I know. He mainly uses hand-to-hand combat in G1, and the only gun he has was his blaster gun.

Cartoon Prime used his rifle plenty. Gun fighting =/= melee/hand-to-hand. :P

Skywave: Furman made Scorponok my favourite Decepticon leader of all time. His nobility and warrior spirit are legend and should be envied by other Decepticon leaders. Mind you, Furman typically wrote his Decepticon leaders as being noble warriors (save Megatron/Galvatron, who were just megalomaniacs) - one poignant moment was when Thunderwing momentarily snapped out of the Dark Matrix's control when he'd realised that his lust for the Matrix's power had allowed it to dominate his will and that he had just fired upon a fellow Decepticon - something he would never do if he were in full control of his own faculties. But alas the Ring, er, I mean Matrix, has a will of its own. d:

You're right in saying that no other Scorponok has ever matched the legend that was G1 Scorponok. BW Scorponok was a mindless goon and Energon Scorponok/SL Mega Zarak - while an interesting character in his own right - just doesn't hold the candle to G1 Scorponok.

Famous last words:

Scorponok: "Prime... *fzk* ... did I do... *bzzt* ... good?"

Super Optimus Prime: "Yes, my friend. You did good." (Prime cradles Scorponok's body as if weeping)

remember the original power rangers? they had to bring out that goddam megazord to kill every bad guy. show formula: bad guy shows up, hands the rangers their asses, runs away, they find him again, this time evenly matched, bad guy goes giant, they call for robot assistance, rangers win. and how is that city still standing after all the damage theyve inflicted with that damn bot?

Shajaki is right in this retrospect that no what show it is be it Power Rangers or Transformers or even Digimon if it takes a larger size (super mode) to get the job done then by all means use it.

As far as over use of C-Prime's super mode against Ransack and Crumplezone is concerned those two goons actually asked to be whipped by "the most powerful" Autobot. With Megs Prime tries to get back him down before battling him.

One other note if anyone remembers "Mighty Orbots" five bots had to become one to win a battle.
