Canadian TF retailers

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Being in Canada, I'm looking for a reliable Canadian retailer that will deliver great service and good packagin upon delivery.

I know of agesthreeandup but they won't let me pre-order without paying in full first.  I have a rule about never paying money upfront for a pre-order.

Then there is actiontoyhouse.  talked to them they seem very nice however, their price is $25-35 more than the average price seen on shoppertron.

So those anyone have any suggestions.  THanks.

Theres kool toyz . Ive never done any online business with them, but I have done alot of business with them at transformercon. You can always try BBTS or tfsource. Not Canadian retailers but both are great to deal with and have fast shipping to Canada.

Haven't dealt with any Canadian-based stores myself (online or otherwise), so can't help you there. I'd just recommend geting it through HobbyLink; at least they don't demand payment in full until the item is actually ready for shipping. They were offering a 5% discount on pre-orders of MP3 and MP4 a few weeks ago too...

thanks for the suggestions.  If anyone has anymore, I'd like to hear them.

I have thought of HLJ, however, unlike the US we get taxed on items such as toys and I'm guessing shipping would be killer.  So I thought I'd try to help the economy a little (yes, very little, I know).

The shipping isn't so bad (SAL isn't anyways); as for the import duties, so far the only time I've had to pay customs charges (for items coming from Japan) was on the MP1 I got yesterday (which came out to about $16)... MP4 will probably be $20 in duties at the most (if at that, actually)...

So, either $20 in duties or $20-$35 markup from ActionToy House I guess..

Hope this helps..

TF Source is also really good for Canadians. They are in the US but treat their Canadian customer VERY well. Unfortunatly they do require pre-payment for pre-orders.

But HLJ is a store based in Gunma Prefecture... why would you have to pay tax to the Canadian government for a transaction made in Japan?

You have to pay for them to inspect your package at customs before it can enter the country. I think they search packages randomly too cause sometimes I have to pay duty and sometimes I dont. I once bought a set of taillights for my car from the states, customs opened the box examined them, scratched them, repackaged them wrong, slapped an inspected sticker on them and then shipped them to me charging me $97 in duties (tax) :tdown .

Any goods imported into Canada is at the very least subject to Federal and provincial sales taxes plus atleast $5 for customs to tell you you owe them money.

Fortunately for toys if marked correctly, is only subject to sales taxes and no other tariffs will be levied.

Even gifts can be subject to sales tax is the labelled value is over $60 Canadian.

Items under $20 are free of tax, however, customs reserves the right to revalue the item if they feel it is worth more.  (then you have to fill out a form and send them proof it is wrong if you want money back).

Long story short, eventhough HLJ is in Japan, I would just have to.
