MIB Fake Cyclonus on Ebay

Recommended Posts

OK Im not saying he's not ripping people off but that Cyclonus IS real.  The key was in the Trademark.  It has a place of Manufacturing which is not allowed on any bootleg.

I'm sorry, that doesn't mean squat. There are adventurous KO makers out there, and I'm sure at one point or another one of the companies slapped their name on one of their products.

I'm not saying you're absolutely wrong on the facts, but there's always possibilities that you could be, and your constant "I'm the best, and know it all because I said so" arrogance drives me insane.

Tom gave us a reason why he thinks it's a genuine Cyclonus. For those who said it is a KO, why is that? I really don't buy the "because it's made in China" reasoning - aside from the fact that it's racist and stereotyping the Chinese industry, most of the G1 figures after the 2nd series were made outside Japan.

Heck, BW and BM were made almost exclusively in China. If anything, the plastic quality of the toys made outside of Japan was much better, not like the Diaclone/later G1 Japanese exclusive gold plastic that were manufactured in Japan, which if you even look at it funny, it falls apart on you.

TOM:  That's the lamest thing I've ever heard.  My KNOCKOFF G1 Prime says right on the box "Copyright 1984 HASBRO BRADLEY Pawtucket Rhode Island".  That doesn't mean anything.  You mean to say that bootleggers care about Copyright marks like they have some secret code of ethics?  Give me a break.

Satanstorm:  It's a knockoff not just because it comes from China, but it is of inferior quality.  Just ask members of this board, they know there stuff.  Also, the seller has questionable selling tactics (listed as a USA seller, but has a store in China; sells multiples of the same RARE item).

Not to say that these Knockoffs aren't cool, I think they are, but I don't think a seller should misrepresent an item as a 20 year old original when in fact it was manufactured probably within the last 1-2 years.

I firmly believe the Chinese and Japanese factories probably still produce these for the black market just because they aren't as stringent about licenses and copyrights as we are.  They probably were only meant for the Chinese black market and never to be sold in the USA anyway.

Also, most knockoffs are reverse engineered from an original toy, so size and minor details are often times lost.

Knockoff? Not if you consider that an imitation. The general theory is that this did in deed use the original mould.

Bootleg? Yes.

Valuable? Sure. Who wouldn't want a nice MiSB Cyclonus.

As valuable as the US, Euro or French version? not by a long shot. Not even a MiB one.

I'm not gonna get involved in the is it/isn't it debate. I wouldn't know a KO if it slapped me in the face and said "I'm fake lol!"

I know one thing though, something's fishy:

eBay ID 1: bidnowin

eBay ID 2: fceb

Not sure how to add to this topic but I'm with Tom here. Why? Because I owned a similar item in 2001. The Cyclonus I had, had a Chinese sticker over the TRANSFORMERS logo. I ripped it off and verified this. I also opened the box but not the inner packaging. As far as I could tell, it was genuine. Just a release for the Chinese market a little after the tf hype in the 80s I guess.

See, the ones with the Chinese logo OVER the TF logo are the real chinese releases from back in the 80's. The ones that are the fakes are the ones that have the full American logo, but have that small chinese sticker on the top right hand corner. Then they often have a big bit of black over the manufactuers details.

When BBTS got a case of these Cyclonus in a couple of years back, he thought he had the find of the century. He opened one up and let us all know that the rubber was funny and smelt like fish.

I'll be the first to entertain the idea that this may be real, but you are going to have to come up with some very HARD evidence to convince me otherwise.

Like siburke939 said:  Something is definitely fishy about all of these suddenly showing up on Ebay.
