Yes.

And that will be a good thing.

It's already started.

First was CR/RiD and the G1 reissues - here were all these so-called "Transfans" who had never touched Transformers for 15 years suddenly getting back into it.

Then came Armada, Energon and Cybertron - 2004 marked the 20th anniversary of the Transformers franchise. Folks like you and I celebrated 20 years of continued fandom... and suddenly all these noobs popped up who'd never touched Transformers in 20 years.

The Neo-Classic and movie lines will simply be the 3rd TF noob-explosion. If the movie does well, it may be a very large explosion... but yeah... I've already been noticing the increase of noob fan-boys for the last 6 years.

We've already seen a few of these noobs come along and flaunt these massive collections of TF figures which they've acquired over a very short span of time (typically 2 years or less). While I can appreciate the enthusiasm of trying to catch up for over two decades of non-collecting, this is far less impressive to me than looking at another fan's collection which they have been building continuously over the last 22 years - such collectors will often have a more in-depth knowledge of Transformers lore as well.

Building a massive collection in a short span of time requires a lot of money and enthusiasm.

Building a massive collection and equally massive knowledge of Transformers in general over a span of 22 years requires solid dedication.

There's only one rational approach to resolve this.

Kill the n00bs.

I don't think the past explosions have been anything other than an increase in home INTERNETS.  Sure, there are new members who bothered to google search "transfomers" because they saw a reissue at TRU, but I don't think A/E/C caused anyone to become a fan, unless they'd already seen G1 or BW.

I am offended at your broad sweeping generaliztion!  Zut!  I bid you GOOD DAY sir!

tho i am new to the internet fandom...i have always been a fan....but yes the fandom is gonna spark bigtime...and we are going to get a bunch of the kids getting in the way of our toys......... not a bad thing....but im gonna like all the new merchandise

I see the fandom picking up with the movie and classics easily. The real question is how many of them will stay around to defy their noob status?

Yes and I am encountering them on other forums and frankly, they are pissing me off. They are like "this and that is how it is" and I say "um no you are wrong" and they go "stfu noob" and I am confused as F here. But whatever. Just as long as I don't end up getting into any fights in public with these people it will be all fine, or they have to just recognise that some of us have been in the fandom for a real long time and have a slight edge on them in TF knowledge.

I've been lurking for a loooong time both here and at other tf sites. I'm still not sure what triggered my first post.

Suffice to say, that I do not pretend to know all the tf lore. I sit back and learn some, simply for amusement. However, when it comes time to talk about real vehicles in the Bin-Alt threads, I do happen to know what I'm talking about. (auto-journalism)

All I want to learn and share deals with 84-87 G1 and Bin-Alts. (and MPs) ;)
