ultra magnus

^ but that would contradict the whole idea of the classic line: updated version of the originals. To stay with that idea Magnus should be a white Prime with a trailer that becomes his armor. And considering how many Prime combiner we've had in the last years (basically every regular Prime since BM has been a combiner) I don't really see why that should be any trouble. Sure, they'll have to design a trailer that combines with him, but that would probably be cheaper to make then designing a whole new Magnus that looks like his G1 version in both robot and altmode.

the original magnus was a repaint...of the Diaclone upgraded Convoy...Powered Convoy.

The ONLY original magnus was RID. Period. So in honesty, a true Magnus is supposed to be a repaint...

powered convoy wasnt released in g1. it was diaclone or whatever.  so as far as american g1 is considered then magnus was his own figure, bar the white prime cab.

Yes, but it could be argued that the cab itself was the figure, and the trailer just an accessory, in which case G1 Magnus was still just a repaint with upgraded accessories.  Emphasis on the could.  The problem is that lately, Prime already HAS an upgraded supermode when combined with his trailer, so it's almost pointless to redesign the trailer for the repaint.

:schin  Unless you're going all nostalgic, like with a "Classics" line... then it would be relevant. [/hint]

i just had a thought. does anyone wonder why hasbro chose rodimus to take over as leader instead of magnus? i mean im sure they were just trying to capture the current youth market ie: red car with flames and him being a rebel an whatnot. most kids should love that. but why would they go out of their way to release someone so close in character and looks with the previous leader only to have him replaced by someone like hotrod? by all means magnus could have been the leader of the bots.

and gz, thats why i said bar the white prime cab.
