Okay, my thoughts so far. (G1 rubsigns give me major fanwood btw)

 

 

Optimus Prime:  After seeing the final product, I am impressed.  Very well done I think.  The gun doesn't look tacky and the arm kibble isn't too bad. 

 

Megatron:  Take it or leave it.  There is definite room for improvement.  Some black over the green & orange and I think it'll look pretty sharp.  Probably another Sharpie repaint for me, black or other paints for others.  And if the 'wings' are removable, they'll likely stay off while I have it on display

 

Astrotrain:  We knew it was awesome from the proto, and final product is still impressive.  I'm only slightly disappointed that they didn't go with the grey/purple scheme, but the overall coolness of the figure keeps me from being too disappointed.  10:1 says it'll have the grey/purple paint scheme from EHobby Hot OPP pwned

 

Rodimus:  As the figure I've been waiting the most to see... that vehicle mode is absolute T!TS!!!!!!!!  Robot mode, not so much.  Don't get me wrong, it's still cool, but they should've hid the engine block in robot mode, and the arms seem too thin from the elbow down.  The spoiler doesn't look so great in this mode... had they given it a more G1 styled spoiler, both modes would look alot better IMO.  Also, the yellow on the head has got to go... worked on E. Rodimus, not so much this one.  And only two sidepipes instead of 3 *grumble*  And wtf is with that gun?!? :wtf Hey, he's my absolute favorite, of course I'm gonna pick it apart....  But it's still friggin awesome :thumb

 

Starscream:  F'n T!TS!  Looks almost like the MP-03 proto we've seen, which may very well be just a shrunken down version.  To be honest though I'm happy yet slightly disappointed that he's an F-15.  With all the other characters so far updated to new forms, I thought he would be also, into something more along the lines of the F-22, so the F-15 throwback is kind of surprising.  With the similarities to MP-03 leads me to believe they utilized that design-spec and shrunk it down.  And if that's the case, I've got no problems with that, 'cus it's f'n sweet either way.  Bring on Skywarp & Thundercracker!!!

 

 

Now all we need is to see Bumblebee, Soundwave, Grimlock, Jetfire, and the other 2 TBA's that were reported on earlier....

 

 

bah, now that I've had a chance to look over the rest of the news forum, I spy the topic that talks about all the neo G1's that I shoulda posted this in.... oh well

I mostly agree with Thad.  My analysis so far:

 

Optimus Prime: MUCH better than I expected from the B/W photo.  The amount of yellow strikes me as an odd choice, and the colors/mold remind me of Star Convoy for some reason, but that's not really a bad thing.

 

Megatron: Could've been a lot better, but the color scheme screws the pooch (IMO).  This one seems pretty skippable, at least to me (hasn't bought a Megatron since BW)

 

Astrotrain: This is probably the one I'm most impressed with, though the legs seem kind of funky.  The white doesn't really bother me that much, since it occurs to me the figure wouldn't look as good in grey.

 

Hot Rod: The one I was most looking forward to, and my biggest disappointment.  The car looks about like it should, but the bot mode seems kind of sloppy, plus that gun just plain sucks.  I actually prefer Excillion's robot mode.

 

Starscream: Looks GREAT, and I plan to sell my Energon SS as soon as I get this one.  If they make seeker repaints I'll buy at least three.  However, I too am somewhat disappointed that they didn't try to update the design.  I was secretly hoping for Classics SS to look like the one in the TFans banner.

 

I'll probably get them all (with the exception of Megatron).  I think they'll display really nicely with the Energon and Cybertron homages like Downshift and Soundwave.

i take everything bad i thought about megatron he looks sweet but i still think i will make him galvatron. he really is a homage to many megs isent he.

if it is anything at all like other "Hasbro-exclusives" Toy'r'Us Japan will import them as US editions.

edit: doomtron, that's what I was thinking. Perhaps Hasbro thought that since they would have to paint him bright colors, they may as well use colors that have been associated with Megatrons past.

 

And also something that would contrast nicely with Optimus Prime.

Prime looks good, Megs is ok. (Good mold, weird colors, but I can understand toy laws), Astrotrain is decent (I would also have liked the grey/purple scheme), Rodimus and Starscream are beautiful!
