This Week's Haul

Recommended Posts

Sorry, for some reason I thought I had made a haul thread for this week!

List your tf purchases for this week here!

I scored a G1 100% complete Metroplex, including box and styrofoam off of Ebay earlier today for $102 + shipping. He'll go nicely set up against my 99% complete Trypticon.

This is gonna take a while... on Monday, received Energon Ultra Magnus, Energon Saber Mini-Con team, Micron Legend Starscream and BM Supreme Cheetor. On Tuesday, received Powerlinx Optimus Prime (Armada), King Atlas, and Energon Rodimus, Prowl and Inferno. Now, brief reviews:

Ultra Magnus: A nicely done Overload repaint which brings out the existing homages to G1 Ultra Magnus in this mold and roughly matches up with Armada's Powerlinx Jetfire and Optimus Prime to create a more uniform Magna Jet Prime. There's not really a lot else to say. Sculpt is cool, articulation is lacking. That's really all. The toy comes with a repainted Requiem Blaster, which very much shares the Powerlinx Magna Jet Prime aesthetic in it's colours, and which can be used by Ultra Magnus when linked to a Powerlinx peg.

Energon Saber: Like the Star and Dark Sabers, but better. The individual bots are essentially the same. The vehicle modes are more stylised and IMO cooler looking. The combined form is much bulkier, and looks a much more devastating weapon than the Armada pair. Their colour scheme works fantastically with SL Megazark, so he gets 'em... but I'm annoyed to discover he only has two Minicon pegs.

Starscream: I was desperate to get *a* Starscream in this mold, which I love very dearly. Initially, I wanted the Armada version, but now I have this version, I'm glad of it. The white works better than I think the grey would, creating a much more vibrant toy. He has gold detailing rather than plain yellow, which adds to the mechanical feel of the toy. On top of all this, while Armada Starscream may have 'worked', the Skyboom Shield repaint was just made for this version of Starscream. Incredibly cool.

Cheetor: Ummm... I'd heard the stories of this horror, but was too foolish to listen to the warnings of my betters... Okay, no, he isn't that bad. Robot mode is crap, but Beast Mode is rather nice and that's how he'll be staying.

Final Battle Optimus Prime: I actually prefer this version of prime over the original. The more subdued colouring is appealing. He certainly looks like a Prime ready for his 'Final Battle', with a much darker than usual, almost worn looking colour scheme. Of course, what almost makes this set worthwhile is Corona Sparkplug. The gold detailing, the major retools... the fact that he actually has hands... the red body... he works so very well with E-Rodimus' one Powerlinx point. I think Corona may just be my favourite Mini-con, and he's package with one of the most unique and cool-looking Prime repaints ever. Kudos to Hasbro on this one: they've pulled a marketing coup: redecorated Prime in a way that we'll accept on future Primes. A new classic?

King Atlas: Hoorah! He's a brick! But an incredibly cool-looking brick, which almost offsets the general brickishness of him. He has a couple of coool gimmicks, the solar panels and the bomb dropping feature both being rather cool. Also, what King Atlas means is that I now own every mold ever used for Starscream. Quite by accident. I like King Atlas. He lacks articulation, but retains aesthetic and play value. The detailing of the damaged paint is beautiful. This is certainly a toy with a lot of worth in it.

Rodimus: Rodimus is a great toy. He's essentially an update of his G1 self as a toy, which is always nice to see. His head sculpt refers the Rodimus Prime, not Hot Rod, head, and it's nice to see some consistency. Rodimus' truck mode is cool, much better than the G1 original and still very much belonging to the Hot Rod aesthetic: he isn't just trying to be Optimus Prime. His weapon is great, really firey looking which seems to be the direction the designers wanted with Rodimus. His Powerlinx upper body is nothing to write home about at all, unfortunately. He makes a great lower body, although he is slightly back-heavy in that mode. His best combination so far is with STD Convoy, which I hereby dub Rodimus Prime (duh). Combined with Hot Shot, a form I like to call Hot Rod, he looks overly tubby which is disappointing. I didn't even try him with Prowl or Inferno yet. I think they've found their perfect combined form...

Prowl: This toy rocks. Don't listen to what you've heard, Prowl is a cool toy. He has a cool looking Vehicle mode which is very interesting since one doesn't generally encounter Formula 1 Police Cars. His robot mode is, unfortunately for him, a hunchback, and he does have a very Swinlde-esque aesthetic. Still, the robot mode is cool and fun. I liked both his Powerlinx combinations, both legs and arms. However, the one I eventually settled on was legs, and the reason is simple: combined with Inferno, this is so damn cool. I dub this form: Red alert. The only issue I have with Prowl is this: given the mold and alt mode, wouldn't Blurr have been more appropriate? I like Prowl because he's interesting but I would like Hasbro to not hold back on giving us a Blurr in Energon, even if it's just a redeco of this mold I'd be happy.

Inferno: Everything about this toy is cool. He is slightly difficult to get transformed exactly, and requires a little bid of fiddling to properly put him in robot mode. Inferno features the 'Energon Head' which I am rapidly beginning to believe is more of a design thing from within Hasbro than simple laziness. Why they'd do this I don't know, but when one takes it as it is, it's almost stylish. His vehicle mode is obviously another War Within reference which is always fun. His robot mode reminds me of G1 Ironhide with the grill on the front. His Powerlinx legs are cool, if bulky. However, he really shines as a Powerlinx shirt. What's nicest about this form is that he does have a lot of junk on the back from the legs, but it's turned up, so it looks more like cooling pipes or power cells of some kind than just junk on the back. Powerlink him to Prowl, turn the skirt up, and you have one hell of a cool bot. Did I mention that Inferno has my favourite gun of the Powerlinx lot?

King Altas. At a K-Mart sale I got the (mini-cons) sea team, night attack team, road wrecker team, and bought the street action team a KB. I got Superlink Convoy and kicker box se, but my kicker is broken :tfsad (leg falls off), so the company is sending me the single packed one for free and I get to keep the broken one :thumb . Energon Demolisher. On Ebay I won a Runamuck and Runabout, but have given up that I am gonna get them, as it has been seven days and the person I won them from had yet to send me a E-mail telling me how much shipping will cost, says he sent it, but I got the Email he sent and it doesn't give me the shipping cost, guess he just doesn't want to sell them to me :tdown Sucks I really wanted them. Sorry for the rant, just was hopping I could have added them to my collection. EDIT this dude finally sent me the total. Heres hopping I get them.

Must add another post - I was bored and I found out my tax refund was deposited today, so I went a huntin' at my local Super Wally World.

Snagged Landmine, Insecticon and Mirage (the only one!). Gonna have some fun! I saw the insecticon one and was overcome with a fit of nostalgia, and for $5.94, I couldn't resist.

Yes, I shall add to the appropriate sightings threads - and they had about 4 Arcees as well.

Got Razorclaw after searching through 5 Targets, 3 Walmarts, 3 TRUs and finally one K-mart.

Then after that the Razorclaw I got was missing a "clip" that held the wings.

So I went back to K-mart to get the last Razorclaw they had in trade for the malfunctioning one.

Also he was 21.99 not 19.99 like all the other stores.

Funny thing, K-mart promises to have the lowest prices..They advertise it everywhere in the store. But as I said I got a 19.99 toy for 21.99.

If any of the other stores had what I wanted I would not have shopped K-mart.

Because of the false advertising I recomend (if you can) not to shop K-mart. If they advertise the giving you the lowest prices they better deliver. This store does not price match.

So after 11 store searchs 3 dollers more than what I planed to spend and purchasing twice I finally have Razorclaw.

I have to say Razorclaw formally tigerhawk is what Beast wars is all about.

This has to be the coolest transformer ever.

The alt mode flying cat is as fun as the robot. And there are so many features.

But be carefull when you find him; look at the figure in the box and look at the "clips" that hold the wings.

I'll post a full review later. After reading past reviews of this toy I found that this new release of Razorclaw has fixed most of the minor issues of the toy when it first came out.

On another note, a friend of mine gave me his old hoist transformer. It's in good condition, he took good care of it.

After my birthday I bought: Energon Prime(with faceplate), Binaltech Hound, Beast Wars Metals Megatron and Battle Ravage
