GRB custom

Recommended Posts

I posted picts of the digibash I started quite some time ago, well today I got it very close to being done...sort of.

To explain, I took a Unicron, and bashed it to look like the classic Diaclone base known as Great Robot Base or GRB.

Changed the head to have adjustable guns, and the whole thing swings around to make the gun platform (like GRB) Eyes still light up, and will have the sculpt and paint job completed soon.

Chest was gutted and hollowed out to make the command center, like GRB. Still working on that, might make a chair for a minicon to sit, or a diaclone driver, or a launch pad for a little jet... Created a scratch built chest piece by piece to replace the Unicron chest (not that there was one on the junker I bought) Still working on the finishing of that.  The midsection needs to be altered as well...later.

The arms, removed the rubber covers for the shoulders, think I might trim the edges.  The cannon for Unicron's chest has been made to mount to his writ.

Mid section going to add GUNs where the hip guards would be (since I don't have Unicrons)

Upper legs, added doors that can open in base mode.

Knees, opened them up and added G1 combiner slots.  Works good in starship mode and robot mode for jets.

Legs, made the ramp doors open up 180 degrees so that they can lay flat out across his legs in base mode.  A swing out ramp covering the legs can allow a minicon to drive out and down the ramp.  Will probably make the ramp system longer and definitely paint.

Feet, did a couple things here.  Made the feet have Energon combiner hidden mounts, so that I can connect tanks in mobile base/tank mode, or a jet in star ship mode.  The feet were shortened and tank treads added to the side.  They lay flat in normal foot mode, or can swing around and be the classic tank tread feet.

So GRB can link up with G1, Energon, and possibly Build King parts (have plans for the forearms) as well as minicon ports.  I might add a Powermaster space, don't know just have a lot of ideas and finally got around to getting a lot done these last couple weeks.

Anyway here's a collection of picts of the work in progress...starship mode is not given proper justice, the thing is LONG stretched out.

Holy sweet killer awsomeness!!!! I'm liking the heck out of it man. A very nice diaclone robot to bring into the new world. the base mode might be the sdeller for me

Here's a picture of the Diaclone Great Robot Base for anyone not familiar with it.

Thanks E!  Wait till its touched up and painted!  Not to mention the details like custom stickers and such.  Maybe I can throw in some Cyber Key feature somewhere as well...

Well, now.  That's very interesting.  I've never seen a GRB before, but comparison shots are pretty matching.  I'd be very interested to see how it looks after it's painted.

YOu need to add treads somewhere else on the base mode.it's good though...really good

Here's a digibash I expect the colors to come out.  Also have plans on making custom decals and what not.

Don't think I mentioned it but in base mode, the legs clamp together to make the double garage look of the classic mode, with treads out the sides.  In Starship mode, the legs do the SPLIT action, with one leg backwards, and one forwards.  In this mode I have made add on tank treds to give each side the ballance.

Have plans to use smaller tanks, or something for the back of the arms.  Probably going to use the bull dozer from Buildking, with out the dozer bits (guns instead) and flipped around (since the ones I have are missing the roof).  Just have to figure a way to mount them.

I really like the base mode.  How long have you been working on this?

Since around October of last year.

Here is the original post with the Digibash concept.

Was hung up on the tank tred idea for some time, and got into other projects.

Have one more new Alternator project that will kick arse...I just have to KILL a perfectly good one I might not have an extra of (might be a good excuse to replace it with a Binaltech for the collection)..
