g1 reborn

ive been thinking about this for a while now.

when it comes to the toy lines from the later half of generation 2 on, one could easily repaint and customise the figures from those lines to be more  modern day figures of the classic characters from generation 1 when it comes to the cast from the first  2 seasons of the 80's cartoon.

for example cybertron galvatron could with some bit of slight tweaking to the colorscheme a fusion cannon and maybe a better head he would  make for a better version of g1 megatron figure wise.

for devasstator, energon constructicon maximus with a differant head for the merged form a slight bit of reconstructive work to one of his crane figures to be a cement truck for a leg and a more unified colorscheme.

for starscream cybertron starscream the small figure from the vector prime 2 pack.

he would just need a simple repaint all together

for sound wave a slight bit of tweaking to the colorscheme.

for shockwave energon shockblast with a bit of kitbashing to give him a better right arm for the robot mode and a more classic colorscheme.

and so on

me i got all season 1 decepticons made up of figures from cybertron, energon and beast wars except for  the insecticon trio and reflector trio made

megatron, starscream rumble and soundwave with rumble being made from the scrapmetal drone.

frenzy, shockwave,  devastator, thundercracker and skywarp  with  frenzy being made  from  signal flare, shockblast, constructicon maximus, and the last 2 being made from energon starscream

with ravage and laserbeak being made from bwmetals ravage and tm airrasor with a new colorscheme and a new set of arms and legs for laserbeaks robot mode. with them instead acting as spys and scouts and rumble and frenzy being the heavy hitters of the four.

i think universe as a toyline could have appealed to a  larger  fan base age group wise if they had done it like that for the  better part of it but at the same time had given the universe toyline a more interesting story like what destron69 has done for it on the allspark message boards over the years

does anyone else think this would have been a good idea at the time?

^ Uhhh... Yeah, nobody here wants a repaint. Personally I would have liked the Cyb redecos of the G1 characters if they weren't from Armada.

But alas, this thread will not get any love from the fans here.

me i think it could still be a good idea to use as a starting point but with the figures each being an extensive remold for the figure to suit its respective classic character.

like what robotmasters did for the combat hero megatron and rid skidz figure when it comes to the potential that some of these figures have kitbashing wise.

we've all seen just how far a halfway decent figure can be taken in that direction through a series of improvenets to it.

case in point armada starscream compare the figure in its unaltered state to the final product when tfmaster got through with it either way that figure looked damn sweet with all the custom kitbashing he did to the figure and his paint job for it really captured that g1 starscream vibe for it..

Hey I was thinking the same thing too.

and when Megs gets turn into Galvatron like in the 86 movie, they could use the energon Megs/Galvatron mold as the base, with the color scheme closer to the g1 cartoon

I disagree.

I think Universe could've been better if it was merely an expansion on the concept of the convention and e-Hobby exclusives -- existing moulds repainted well (most Universe repaints suck) with NEW personas/characters to further expand the world of the Transformers.

IMO Universe Optimus Primal would've been much cooler if he were marketed as Rodimus Primal.

Saberwolf's idea is not half bad, although I don't think Has/Tak is into selling the line that way for the now defunct Universe line.
