How do you feel when they reuse a G1 name?

Recommended Posts

I like when I see a G1 name, but when that bot ain't nothing like the G1 bot its feels funny. Ironhide is one of them. The G1 Ironhide talked country & i think was a vet. This new Ironhide is a rookie teen. Now don't get me wrong I get to love these bots, I just have to get in my head this ain't G1. So how do you guys & gals feel?

To be honest, it doesn't bother me that they use a G1 name since if they do not use it then the G1 reissue might get stuck with the wrong name ala Rodimus Major for Hot Rod or Silverstreak for Bluestreak.

I concur Ironhides original voice was Peter Cullens take on John Wayne and it suited the bot just fine.

Anyhow I am with you, it upsets me when they use a G 1 name on a bot that has absolutely not one characteristic n common with his namesake. At least ehy got Rodimus Prime right.

I think it's great. It means Hasbro still has that trademark. If you don't like the name applied to a certain toy, think of it as a placeholder to keep that trademark alive for when you really do need it.

Despite having homages left and right, Energon is not G1. Ironhide the rookie is a breath of fresh air and an interesting take on an old character.

Toys have no free will. You can call them Bubbles and they'll just sit there taking your verbal abuse. It really doesn't matter. No cutting, glue, or paint is required - just a little imagination. Think that Battle Ravage sounds odd? Simple. Call him Ravage.

The only exception would be certain G2 and newer Universe toys. "Hi. My name is... *reads trailer* ...Optimus Prime!" :redface

:pfx

The voice should reflect the personality of the character in that particular cartoon series.

I LMAO thinking of a minivan Starscream.

As long as it matches the design of the transformer, and some characteristics of the original, i'm ok with it.

I think its a tragedy when they reuse original names. I am NOT an Armada fan in the least nor do I care for Energon. Same Blot different name IMO. They could at least come up with some new names for this mess their coming out with.

Different names=no continuity between series.

Connecting the series together (even when they don't perfectly align) is what makes Transformers great.

Nope.

Armada/Energon/Universe isn't G1. And like WRX says buy them and call them whatever you want.
