Why would Megatron clone Dinobt

Having a cloned dinobot would have worked if not for the missing episode which was really important in which rat trap got dinobots memories back into him.

For megatrons part, he recognized dinobots skill and power

There wasn't any part of Dinobot in TM2 Dinobot (again, assuming the inclusion of "Dark Glass" which HR referenced). It was just a protoform + raptor DNA + 1/2 of Rampage's spark.

IMO Megatron only christened him "Dinobot" as a "f*ck you" to/mockery of the original... as if to say, "at least this thing will follow me." BW Megatron had kind of a warped sense of humor that way.

Keep in mind that raptor DNA somehow was able to get a fairly good aproximation of Dinobot's personality.... though that might have simply been because Megatron knew Dinobot so well, that when he created the original clone, all he had to do was simply search his memory for DInobot's mannerisms and whatnot.

The same Reason he used Optimal's body in the last episode of Beast Machines. He likes to do things that are a smack in the face to his enemies

That and the Op Op body was basically the most powerful beastformer ever,

Yes well, that plan worked out well didn't it

It was never really explained in the show, but among the fans, his alteration into a more "real" Dinobot is generally related to Dark Glass, the unmade episode where Rattrap uploaded data tracks into him which the original had uploaded in Bad Spark. Although, this theory would men that he shouldn't have any memory of the events in the rift valley, because the file was made before he died...maybe its a combination of both

And yet these things always come back and smack him....

Actually, I think Megs dragon form is the strongest, he did pretty much pwn Optimal Optimus every time thy went at it...

artistic license'd :tflaugh hey, it works better dramatically that way

And if you watch closely, you'll notice that TM2 Dinobot really doesn't say a whole lot... of course they gave him the same voice and stuff, but he only starts *acting* like Dinobot once Rampage is killed. At least that's how I see it.

BTW Megatron/Primal fight at the end of BM >>>>>>>>> all other TF fights
