BT Optimus Prime CONFIRMED!

anime leaves me cold for the most part... nothing to do with realism though (which is a ridiculous thing to argue about since animation is stylized by definition). I just find myself unmoved by it.

you've never watched a good one then...

why do you assume that? I've watched plenty of anime. It's interesting and often visually striking, but it just leaves me cold on an emotional level.

OMG AN INFORMED OPINION :eek

I thought you watched a few animes and Akira...

which ones have you watched?

a few that spring to mind are Princess Mononoke, Totoro, Ghost in the Shell, and honestly a bunch of stuff that I don't remember the names of (I think "Spriggan"? was one of them). And Akira, as you mentioned. I have Akira on DVD, but I mainly watch it for the visual spectacle of it all (plus I like gigantic exploding flesh babies). I just don't think that anime is a very emotionally expressive style. Sure, it's visually impressive, but even then there's a detached quality to it that makes it really hard for me to engage with it. Or more to the point, I don't think that the artists are even intending to emotionally engage with the viewers. It seems to be a lot more focused on detail and action than connecting with the audience. It's like watching math.

Shows like Trigun, and seasons 1 and 2 of kenshin, Naruto, and very scant others to have an emotional base.

I liked Naruto, but I didn't want to LEGALLY ACQUIRE any more episodes since the one I saw skipped so much that it gave me hives... I still liked it though

:tflaugh

One day i'm gonna "obtain" all of the episodes of Naruto and watch them, I get the feeling the series is a lot better when taken in large doses, like 6 episodes in a row or something.

you are correct.  They are best viewed 3 at a time like a 90 min. movie

Thoguht so.

you know, DBZ wasn't all that bad until the buu/boo saga came around and he began to recycle ideas and stuff.

Cell Saga was the best, really. there was plot, character development and a minimum of "OMG I'M PIOWERING UP NOW", which was prevalent throughout the entire series.

Realism?!? It's far more real than ANYTHING cartoons have came up with.

Then you have no emotions, as anime is very emotional.

Oh now you're just getting ignorant. How can something like Princess Mononoke feel like watching math, but something like(I have no idea what you think is emotional, so I'll just throw an american cartoon out there) the Justice League be so emotional for you?

The only show that is more about nothing than DBZ is friggin Seinfeld.

Actually, DBZ is about fighting to save the world/universe. If you want anime about nothing like Seinfeld, go see Azumanga Daioh or The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi.

Why don't you do me a favor and stop being such an unthinking anime apologist. It's annoying and ignorant.

So wow! When does BT-Prime come out?

:lol

OH YES, DEFENDING ANIME IS IGNORANT.

WTF is your problem now? Just say that you're a cartoon nazi and get it over with.
