anime leaves me cold for the most part... nothing to do with realism though (which is a ridiculous thing to argue about since animation is stylized by definition). I just find myself unmoved by it.

you've never watched a good one then...

why do you assume that? I've watched plenty of anime. It's interesting and often visually striking, but it just leaves me cold on an emotional level.

OMG AN INFORMED OPINION :eek

I think the only anime that still gets to me is Evangelion, a close second would be Akira.

I thought you watched a few animes and Akira...

which ones have you watched?

I am interested in knowing your opinion.  If Alt. is stop producing, will you buy BTs if the line survives?

yes, but I'd probably quit kitbashing them.

I just hope that if they do a kid Alexis it won't have a panty shot built into the figure or something.

How can you build a panty SHOT into a figure? :tfhuh

removable pants.  but what the hell are you talking about?  I watched armada and saw no panty shot. :tfhuh

Yeah, but that didn't stop the guys who did the chibi RID figures form makign the utlra creepy "Baby Ai batihng while Super Fire Convoy watches" diorama, now did it? Ai was a hologram that never showed any skin or whatever other than her face and maybe hands.

touche.

a few that spring to mind are Princess Mononoke, Totoro, Ghost in the Shell, and honestly a bunch of stuff that I don't remember the names of (I think "Spriggan"? was one of them). And Akira, as you mentioned. I have Akira on DVD, but I mainly watch it for the visual spectacle of it all (plus I like gigantic exploding flesh babies). I just don't think that anime is a very emotionally expressive style. Sure, it's visually impressive, but even then there's a detached quality to it that makes it really hard for me to engage with it. Or more to the point, I don't think that the artists are even intending to emotionally engage with the viewers. It seems to be a lot more focused on detail and action than connecting with the audience. It's like watching math.

I see....

i tend to watch mostly series' rather than movies. most anime movies have never been to my liking.

ever see Spirited Away? now that was a good movie...

IMO, the best animes that i've seen were Trigun, Cowboy Bebop and Full Metal Alchemist. three dimensional characters, excellent plot, mix of humor, acton and drama.

I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone.

i noticed you mentioend Spriggen. Isn't that a giant robot show?

Edit: IMO, Akira and Ghost in The Shell are totally overrated.

The Ghost In The Shell series on the other hand kicks total ass.

Shows like Trigun, and seasons 1 and 2 of kenshin, Naruto, and very scant others to have an emotional base.

Naruto has DBZ syndrome:

it takes too goddamn logn to do anything.

I liked Naruto, but I didn't want to LEGALLY ACQUIRE any more episodes since the one I saw skipped so much that it gave me hives... I still liked it though
