Review - Alternators Optimus Prime

Recommended Posts

I strongly agree that Alternators are not kids' toys no matter what it says on the box, saying the toys are aimed 50/50 at adults and kids, on the other hand? No. Maybe 80/20, kids and adults respectively.

I love this fandom. Disregarding actual evidence in favor of your own unfounded assumptions and beliefs PWNS.

I guess I need to post the bingo card for losing INTERNET arguments...

I was thinking of that very thing at the time.

this is also a good one

That's the exact comic I was looking for when I posted mine. I still love it.

Bwahjahahaha

i still think that that point of view is somewhat outdated now, considering all of the fanwankery that's been going on since cybertron hit.

which has been enormous and has been in each line.

I do think it will bite Hasbro in the ass though, and things will revert to that comic being 100% true. :tflaugh

I saw that card at Shortpacked! :rofl

i believe cmdjanjalani(How the Powerglide do you pronoucne that?) qualifies for it.

I think it could apply to most every post in this thread, but whatever

oh, and

I think you could definitely make a case for some of the Takara stuff being more "collector-targeted"... especially since they came out and said they'd be doing as much.

I just look at everything and see a big attempt to wankoff the transformer fan base that is gonna fail not because of the fans not liking it, but because of too much focusing on the fans...

edit: runon sentence'd

anyway.... my thoguhts come from this:

tenth BW anniversayr line

the club

the oh so massive fan wankery in Cybertron

the even bigger fan wankery in Neo G1

I don't think Alts count.

I'm just enjoying Madhammer playing devil's advocate some more. Now he has switched sides. Man I love a good TF debate.

Oh, and the comics are great and damned funny.

i dont see how "fanWank" is going to inherently hurt Hasbro - from a kids POV i cant see anything wrong with figures like E-Downshift (Wheeljack) or C-Excillon (Hot Rod)

I mean those are neat bots even for kids who might not know that they are "supposed to look like".

And to counter those of you saying that Alts are for kids - i am not sure what the box says specifically but - I cant imagine buying an Alt for a kid. I have actually steered people away from alts in the toy isle and suggested Cybertron figs.

But I do think LMH has a point there - about the "i am not thrilled but will buy it anyway" additude.  I know thats how i feel but i also feel as many have stated - that any alt is going to still be above average when compared to any line of TF. I admit to that - but i think its a bit harsh for Madhammer to claim to that being a representation of self hate.

What was the topic of this thread any way?

And as far as I know, the Alternators boxes still say "ages 5 and up"... and I do believe the comment from the guy at Takara who designed these was that they were intended to be toys "that adults could appreciate as well."

Which says toys aimed for & suitable for all age groups, not specifically kids toys.

Stating the obvious I know, but just pointing out not everyone who says they're not "kids toys" thinks they're geared just for the adult collector.

Will say though that the adverytising emphasis is definitely more adult orientated though. Kids toys usually have a show to push them or commercials.

Teen/Adult collectible toys tend not to as those collectors are usually aware of them.

Anyway, I wonder how much of this angst is driven by "I'm going to end up getting this anyway because I have no willpower"-type self-hatred.

Too many is my guess.
