Machine Wars was a very short lived line that shipped sometime during Beast Machines as a Target exclusive. All of the larger molds were repaints of late-end G1 toys that were never sold in the US (but everywhere else, to Canada, Europe, and Japan), and stripped of their missile launchers (would never have passed safety laws. The missiles were only about an inch long, as opposed to the minimum 3 inches, and the springs were insanely powerful). The smaller toys were previously unreleased flipchangers (presumedly engineered for G2, just never saw the light of day when the line switched to Beast Wars).

The entire point of the line was pretty much to test the waters to see if vehicular TFs could be successful again.

Being in Canada, I've never, ever, seen Machine Wars toys. But I own the Decepticon Predator Stalker, and the Autobot Turbomaster Rotorstorm, who were repainted as Soundwave and Sandstorm, respectively, in Machine Wars.

At least those G1 remakes make some sense. Still better than Armada though :tflaugh

I had a newsletter that metnioned that if the line was successful, there were plans to make a second series that included (in name only no doubt) Arcee and Shockwave. The TF newsletter was called "Transforum".

THe line didn't do well and Beast Wars was so...

only G1 is good...Machine Wars was a gay toyline that was made like Beast Wars toys, like Robots in disgise

Dude, just shut up. Just shut it. Now. I'm losing brain cells reading your posts...

How old are you? 3? I like G1 too, and despise BW, but Im about to take up for them just to not be on the same side as your ignorant ass....

Just a few additions to mx-01's post.

In the US, Machine Wars was a KB Toys exclusive (why does KB always seem to get the really cool exclusives?) that was released in 1997 to test the waters for a vehicular Transformers series.

(Interesting trivia: I heard from Ben Yee's site that the original idea of Machine Wars was to be a vehicular TF line that would have had a number of classic, yet non traditional characters like Rodimus Prime (leader of the Autobots), Arcee (!?!), and Starscream as leader of the Decepticons.)

As far as availability of the molds:

Starscream- Rereleased as King Atlas, who being in the newer TFU ultra cases may not be terribly widespread.

Optimus Prime- Nothing has been heard yet, but I hope he gets released as Rodimus Prime in Universe

Sandstorm- Rereleased as Whirl, set for a summer release

Soundwave- Recolored for Universe, set for a release in the fall, I think

Megatron/Megaplex- Recolored as Wind Sheer for a RID vs set, also reappearing in Robotmasters

Skywarp/Thundercracker- Recolored to Skyfire for RID, appearing in Robotmasters,

Hoist/Hubcap- Recolored as Tow-line for RID, appearing in RM

Prowl/Mirage- Recolored as Indy Heat for RID, appearing in RM in a G1 Mirage colors

Most of the smaller toys will probably end up in Universe eventually.

LordoftheMatrix, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Does anyone actually like King Atlas?
