It is really sad the Cybertron anime is really bad and the Galaxy Force anime is really good. Goes to show how bad you can hose a dub. I think the Cybertron names are ridiculous and the things they say are even worse.

 

However there is a nostalgia angle as well. Go back and watch ANY of the US TF shows (well maybe not Beast Machines) and they are filled with horrible quips from other shows or commercials or whatever. All around horrible lines, and yet somehow we don't mind those shows. Granted everyone hated Beast Wars when it came out but that seems to be a fading memory.

 

And then again there will always be the Japan vs US debate. Those who have not seen the Japanese shows won't know of this. But I (and others) have watched the Japanese shows BEFORE seeing the US ones, and find we cannot stand the US version. This was true for me with RID, Armada, Energon and now Cybertron. After watching it in Japanese (sometimes raw japanese) it makes the US appear weaker. Perhaps it is the fact that somewhere in my head I think Japan is cooler than the US. The language and script is more interesting than blasted English.

First of all, BW is the BEST show since G1. GF/Cybertron does not even come close to that. BW had cultural references, jokes, excellent characters and a perfect storyline.

 

Not to mention the amimation which was top-notch. The animation for GF/Cybertron is barely up to par with BW though it is almost 10 years after BW was made.

 

And Anime is by far the apex from animation. Sure there are probably a lot of good anime shows but there have also been a lot of AWFUL anime shows such as Yu-Gi-Oh!

 

The creators of that should be sent to Rura Penthe (or a place just a bad) for the rest of their miserable lives for making Blot like that. It is a crime against humanity to make a show THAT bad.

 

Before I saw that crappidy-uber-crap show I did not think a show that bad could actually be made. So it drags anime down considerably. I mean, most of the anime shows I have seen are AFWUL, especially most of the Transformers shows.

 

If they can screw up a cool concept like Transformers then I have little interest in checking out other anime shows seeing they are probably a waste of my time.

 

Some of the best cartoons I ever saw were:

 

Transformers (G1)

Beast Wars

Beast Machines

The Simpsons

Futurama

Life With Louie

Batman Beyond

Gargoyles

Medabots

 

The only anime show up there is Medabots which was actually quite enjoyable.

 

For that matter, I have not seen any good cartoons in the last few years. Quality is slipping quite a bit.

i dont mind yu-gi-oh but the other cartoons you mention are great. i also enjoyed centurions,gi joe,thundercats and animated highlander.

 

they are all 80's and early 90's and was what i believe to be the pinnicle of the cartoon idustry as they had a good feel to them like somone actually wanted to make a decent cartoon and not just premote sales  ahh good memorys

Actually G1 Transformers though American written is Anime, and honestly is not a well written show, I still love it, but the plot lines for the most part were utter crap.  Batman Beyond is obviousely anime influenced, though its one of those few shows that manages to hit the perfect balance between American and Japanese animation styles.

 

And really watching the Japanese versions of the last few Transformer shows is ten times better.  Energon/Superlink is still pretty much crap IMHO, but Armada/Micron Legends is actually decent.  And of course Galaxy Force is practicually a completely different show, and really is the best show since BW went off the air.

 

Anime is like any other art form, you have good stuff, and you have crap.  Thing is alot of shows that get sent over to the states, like pokemon and Yu gi oh are desgined for young kids.  They are written to appeal to small children, not teenagers or adults.  And alot of problems some people have with anime in general is a cultural thing as well, certain plot lines and jokes don't translate well.
