I was looking at someone elses collections picts today, and saw the Japanese Shockwave box...you don't fully notice the differences until you put them side by side. 

 

The shockwave looks like a cross between the G1 US art and the Pre TF art.  Its in the PRE pose sort of. 

 

And the fake Cassette man posting earlier I found the Japanese Soundwave art is the MM version, not the US version (at least as far as how he holds the gun).

 

I don't think I have scans of all the Japanese G1 boxes in my archives.  Anyone know of others out there? 

 

I'll make an even BIGGER art collection/comparrison page. 

Well I have pics of MOST of the Japanese G1 stuff but I resize them when I put them online. I am guessing that you would like larger pictures huh? Mine only go 200x200 max. Although this might be enough. Here is the 1985 page.

the kingdam Browning you have has the toy picture on the box.  My Kingdam Browning used the MM art.  My box is beat up, but its still decent, considering it came from a flea market in Hawaii. 

 

Weird thing about mine, this one came with all orange guns, yet another I had found in my travles was chrome, and its not an original. 

 

Wish my Kingdam Starscream was in the SS box and not ThunderCracker. 

 

There are only a few more Japan boxes I didn't see.  Omega for one. 

That Kingdam Browning appears to be a KO of a KO. Only because I have seen pics of that other one and it makes me wonder. Perhaps different releases? No idea really.

 

Also did you know that in Italy, Starscream Thundercracker and Skywarp all came in the same box? Don't know if that is something that relates. I can't find all pics of them. Notice "Vampiro" at the bottom of this page:

I have a TraSformer Thundercracker, in TC's box.  I could swear I have seen a TraS Screamer, but not %100.

 

It was years before I confirmed for my self that the Police Sideswipe was released as a TraS.

 

I'll have to keep looking around.

 

Knock off of a knockoff is also interesting.  I know I have seen a fake screamer in the Diaclone like box, but mine came in the fake TC box (so at the moment, fake Thunder is scarce if it exists at all).

You will never see it because it & Jetfire were never released in Japan.

How I forgot that Jetfire was not relased in Japan, since Macross ruled over there is beyond me.  I have the back of the box different G1 scans showing Jet in one and someone else in the other...stupid.

 

I think there was also issues with the deluxe insecticons because of betras.

 

Omega is a different story.  There's Mecka-bot 1, Cosmo Robot and I think Omegatron, all similar boxes, just different languages and names...probably bootlegs.

 

BLack and red was one

BLue and chrome silver was another.

 

The boxed one I have was Cosmo, showed the black one on the box, but was blue and chrome inside.  Also have most of a black Omega in storage.

I believe Mecka-Bot 1 is official.  It was Guardian Robot Colors.
