Okay.  I saw in the final episode of Galaxy Force.

 

 

So, I went out yesterday with my sister, and we swung by the KB Toys in the mall that we were at [she's been going through a rough patch, so my mom had me take her to the mall to cheer her up and she gave me money to get her something(s)], and I saw a Cybertron Prime.

 

Knowing my Prime needed some fixing, I had a better idea.  I bought it, and switched out the rear parts (wings/cannons), and now I'm painting the new Cyb Prime and the GF Convoy pack in gold and I have a spare Vector Prime sword from a while ago, though it's kind of deformed.

 

Anyhoo, I'm going to probably buy a Wing Saber (even though I have Sonic Bomber), and use one of the saber handles so Prime can hold VPs sword.

 

How does that sound?

 

I'm still wondering though if it'd be easier to use a spray with Krylon fusion over hand brushing it with Testors Gold model paint.

I've been planning to do this myself too for a while now, but I'll only get to it when I can get a 2nd Cyb.OP for cheap...

Anyhow, for the Final Battle idea..sounds neat. Kind of looks like a blend of gold and silver for certain parts would make it look best.

I'm planning on using chrome foil to do it. I already have two Galaxy Convoys, one with Liger Jack to form Liger Convoy, the other as Sonic Convoy (from the TRU giftset). I'm going to try getting a third for cheap and try my hand at making a large VP sword from styrene (since the sword grows to be the same size as Galaxy Convoy).

As for my sister though, the money was meant for her.  I spent my own money on Optimus.  She got a Power Ranger and then we went to Build-A-Bear where she built herself a giraffe.

Well, I don't know.  Judging from the pic, and having taken photography and art, I'd say it's more of a perpective issue.  The blade get's a nice close-up, and then as you go further back in the pic, things get smaller, that's why the blade looks to be about as big as Galaxy Convoy.

There probably is some distortion due to perspective in that picture, but if you've ever tried putting Vector Prime's sword onto Galaxy Convoy, it looks REALLY small.  And I'm sure the sword was a lot longer on the side angle when Galaxy Convoy and Master Galvatron are charging at each other...

Little point of warning: it's difficult to give it a true gold shine. Gold paint often becomes kind of dull, especially is you cote it (but without coating it scratches/flakes very easily).

 

Gold foiling (like Xjunky said) is a solution. I've also once read someone first painting is glossy silver and spraying clear yellow over it.

 

I would really recommend that you first experiment with gold paint to see how it ends up and how you can get the best result, before painting your extra Prime.
