Guide to create transparent .gif images

On that next screen. Copy all of my settings you see below. These are the best settings I know. How? because for 1 you can see how many Bytes the image is with each change in settings. See below on where to look for file size too on your current work.

You can copy these or fool around with them. Be sure to keep looking at your image and the file size to the image. One of hte settings might not do anything, that is because one of them is for how the image will load up. Like either a waiting period then a full burst load, or a slow blurred to unblurred load. I don't know which one it is though.

Now, there is one other setting to do to have a better detailed image... Look for a little arrow on that subscreen above and click on it to see the following below.

howto0065bm.jpg

On the new Subscreen, put "100" in as the new Optimized File Size. This is what your Adobe will try to convert the actually file size too. You could put it up to 600 for file size. But it only goes so far, because for one you don't know the actually byte size to the image, but its always best to want more, so you don't do less good of a job. So just keep it at 100k for most images. But remember this adjustment for larger gifs to adjust higher. Now look at your file size, it should be a little more!

howto0078tz.jpg

Well that is it, go ahead and save the image and test it out. ImageShack can host your images for free and you can use the Scrapyard on this forum to test them out, or you can test them out here!

Now your final product might not look as good as mine, so for some more tips. Preview the image on the net through "Save For Web", this is the quickest way to see your image on a white background, opposed to the darker canvas setting without changing iyour canvas settings. Look above to the "Save For Web" subscreen to find the preview button.

One quick tip to finishing an image with a cool effect...

Go to the following to create a thin black border around the image, you can do this with all those white pixels still there and the new black border will take them out! But I don't do this to all my gif images, but some I do and some I just totally don't do. But for my Hook I did add a thinborder.

On that new Subscreen. Do the following settings...

Now one last thing to this. After the "Stroke" effect in place, you can't add any pixels or erase any pixels to the image. Because if you add 1 little square pixel with the Layer Stroke Setting on. It'll put a border around that little pixel! So if you want to keep editing the outside of Hook, you can save the image, close the image and reload it. Save it as a Temporary file if you want. Then if you see any black pixels that don't fit in, see below image, you can cut them out on the newly loaded Hook .gif image. It won't have the Stroke effect in play and will make everything like normal pixels. This is best to help tune your image more, just use the eraser and take out that odd border pixel!

The tip above is also good for tuning your image without a border. Once you preview it or whatever and see little dents or pixels that don't belong. Go back to Photoshop and edit them. Use a good color to blend a new "missing" pixel in or whatever you think is best.

...

Now that is it for .gifs. If you are a skilled learner you can learn my tips and your own ideas. But I want to talk about one last thing on normal .jpg. images. To save a .jpg image at its best quality do the following settings and always notice the File Size were the red arrow is pointing. Thats as high as you can get it on those settings!

howto0127pf.jpg

Well Peace and finally I save all my .gifs through "Save For Web", because its got more settings! And I don't know everything about Photoshop. Everything you've read above I have learned completely on my own! So there might be more to it if people here got more tips post them!

Finally I used the "Print Screen" key to caption my whole desktop to create this guide, the key is located on the right side of your keyboard, beside Scroll Lock.

Oh, here is Bumble Bee without the thin Black Border and the same image with it.

Do whatever you want. Sometimes images are better with it or not. And you can finish your work at different speeds as well, doing Border with inside setting at 1 pixel, will take out most white pixels left behind from the Magic Wand tool didn't get, so you don't have to zoom in and cut them. Just go to the Stroke Effect after using the Magic Wand to cut out the image.

We need more pictures with the RID Combaticon-style eye-glare. That was cool.

Just how do you make that "glare" anyway? I have PS...kind of teaching myself it...

Nice Blitz. Looks perfect and just the way I wanted it. The repeat could also be slowed down a bit, but I don't think you can slow down frames without adding some in. Thus making a larger file...

Saved.

With the right software you can put a timer on each frame, which tells it how long to stay in view until the next frame comes up. If you increase that timer for each frame you can slow down the effect without adding any additional frames.

Call me crazy, but I thought his name was Hook.

you may be right, but I thought it was RID hightower painted like hook (a toy that will never see the light of day)

nope, it's G1 hook, btw, aren't the U constructicons being released finally?

They're already out.

Nice gif.  :thumb
