Was There Ever An Explanation...

IMO some of the garish color schemes worked... and some didn't

Well, you know how many tiger striped jets we see out there. :D

That's not exactly what I meant... I don't think "robots in disguise" was ever a driving design philosophy for Hasbro during G2. I just meant, does the obnoxiousness look cool for what it is? I think the G2 Combaticons, both Megatrons, Laser Prime, the Laser Rods, and the Cyberjets look cool. And the Aerialbots, sort of. The rest were :guh

or maybe those were just the only cool G2 figures, period :redface

What? No love for the G2 Bomber set?

I just don't see it... the tank mode killed it for me, I think.

Yeah, but you never have to use the tank mode... the treads aren't even visible unless you hit the button to flip-'em out.

I always just used it as Dreadwind & Darkwing instead after they were rebuilt when Megatron blew up Darkwing in the G2 comic :P

His tank mode also isn't really a full on mode like the original Triplechangers having two distinct, fully done vehicle modes. It's more like all the extra "attack modes" like on the Constructicons, all the scramble city limbs, and the base modes for the scramble city torsos, etc...

Hasbro was just setting up the franchise for the miraculous return of the TFs by way of the highly superior BW figures.

EDIT: Oh and I like Dreadwing. That was my first G2 I ever bought, and one I made a point of rebuying many years later.
