Okay, we all seen the new versions of Optimus Primal and Megatron, but I personally think those figures were meant(not for Beast wars) for Cybertron line instead...

So here is the poll question.

Discuss, debate, Starscream and moan and complain about this topic!

Myself, both those figures will not go in my BW's collection but infact my Cybertron collection.

The world isn't always black and white.... why does it have to be designed for Cybertron or designed for BW only?

Shortly after Botcon I heard someone else's theory that these were designed for a possible BW anniversary line, but included the cyber key gimmick as a back-up in case higher-ups decided not to do the BW 10th line. Then these molds wouldn't go to waste and could still be used in the Cybertron line... just in case.

Makes all the sense in the world to me, but really doesn't fit the either/or options.

If they got planet-key slots then I'd say they were intended for Cybertron, but I don't class my Universe figs with Mini-cons as Armada! They are BW, but I reckon we could be in for Jungle Planet repaints? (You heard it here first!)

i think they are more based for the universe line as they have o distinct origin. you look at primal hes based on bw  but the feet of optimal and some body aswell optimus and surfboard of tm op.

megatron whereas is based on bw version with heavy tm influence

the BWR versions are going with my BW set..and these ones are going with cybertron

They seem like both to me...

I'm sure this is the case - my understanding is that making new molds takes about a year or so (based on the statements made by Hasbro regarding Energon and the popularity of mini-cons - once it was fully apparant how popular the little guys were, it was too late to include them in Energon).

Therefore, I can see starting design on toys that could be included in either line makes sense, since  the rest of the BW 10th line is composed of repaints that can be made pretty quickly once approved.

Beast Wars anniversary just should have be reissues of the figures... with the exception of the transmutate(crap IMPO).

these figures should be for Cybertron! I can however see a Repaint of the Megatron into oh say- Grimlock!

Hasbro has done some stupid sh*t before, but this takes the cake... worse than the Deluxe Unicron  figure.

You forgot the 'other' option.

I think it's like the european Universe Micromasters. They're released under whatever mainline is current so that people would recognise them as TF's and then buy them. Because, well, in order to make sense, products must be bought.
