TF collector club membership renewal

Recommended Posts

Actually from talk in the club forums this years exclusive fig will have some retooling.  Also from talking to the guys in the forum they sound like genuine fans of the toys.  Of course since 90% of what I hear about the club outside of the club forums is Starscreaming and whining I can see why they'd be a bit annoyed when talking to people.

So far I've enjoyed the magazine and the comic.  The comic is interesting, its almost like a Universe thing, its taking place outside of the normal continuity and introducing figures from variouse places in TF history.  Arts good, and I think its a decent story.  Nice articles on the history of TFs.  Its not really a place for news, the guys who run the club know that anything they can print and send out to you will be on the net even before the newsletter hits your mailbox.  So they are taking things in a different direction.  Its not perfect but its better then nothing.

As for the prices, Its actually cheaper for me to order from them then to buy locally half the time because of the markup Alaska puts on everything.  So it works out for me.  I can understand why others might not see it as all that great though.

Honestly I think people have this ideal image of what the club should be and completely ignore reality.  This club started from scratch jsut over a year ago.  I think they've done a pretty good job considering.  Everyone I know who went to the convention enjoyed it, and the figures, if not all perfect, were decent.

If you don't like the club thats fine, but me I'm gonna go with them for another year or two and see what happens.

I see the draw they are trying with the exclusive figures and such, but I dont ever think we will get a full set.  Each one is a combiner, and I have a feeling that we will get three or four and then something will happen to keep the last ones from being made.

5 years of club dues for a repaint of an Energon series figure is not a very sexy incentive. Considering its going to cost us about $350 for club dues to get it seems like a small incetive to me.

Honestly, I miss OTFCC and the 3H shows. They had passion and vision. Most of all they made toys that we all really loved and wanted to own. Something that is missing from the current offerings.

FYI the comic is going away. IDW is going to take is over. So it seems we're going to get less for our money next time around. I personally think the whole thing is a hardly worth it. Read on why.

IMO, the TF Club lacks passion, vision and integrity. The work they produce seems to be more out of necessity than from being excited to be a fan. From the convention to the Web site it looks like someone is working with a gun to their head. Just trying to pull something together under duress.

Now, were that not bad enough. IMO, the club is not a fan of the fans. I find their  attitude patronizing at best. The comments about the convention and some of the fans show their real stripes. The more I hear from them, the more I hear bitterness that they have to struggle, that we don't just pony up $s whenever its asked for. I see this reflected in everything from the jacked up prices on the club store to the frequent and almost always missed deadlines that they say certain events will we performed by - but they never do. Which brings us back to this post. It was said over a month ago that they would be sending out the renewal letters and announcing the next event location and date. Neither of which has happened, as usual.

The real truth is the club sucks eggs. Last year's convention was a sliver of what we've seen in years past. It is already clear to me this year's will be even less so. There certainly isn't any major planning going on to make up for what was pointed out last year as not having enough time to properly plan the convention.

I dont think I will sign up again. Instead, I will light my money on fire. At least that will give off some heat for a brief moment. More than I can say for the Offiical Transformers Club.

I agree Wheel-Jack.

I'm not impressed with what they've done and I have no faith in them making it better.  I'll save my $40 and spend it on something else.

the problem is if nobody supports it and gives it a chance then it will fail. i can honestly say the service ive got through the club has been good. and i agree with above the comic is fairly good. like all things it just needs time and support

Or everyone supports it and _that_ is seen as overwhelming approval.

If you aren't happy with what the club offers, you're doing more harm than good by paying for it.

I've heard a few people talk about missing 3H.  What happened to them, why did Hasbro move to a new group for the Shows and the Club?

I didn't really get strongly back into the TF scene till after they'd collapsed so I honestly want to know what happened to this company that so many people seem to miss.

i emailed them about this as mine ends in april and i havet recieved the letter either but im uk so it would be hastle. they said to just go on the register and pay

:tflaugh Yeah, I'm sure they did.

I'll assume your not a fan of the club then?  Personally I enjoy it, probably a little higher priced then its actually worth, but its only been around a year so I figure it deserves a little time to buildup.

Actually, I'm a member. I only commented from my personal opinion. It wasn't to steer anyone else's opinion. BTW, my personal opinion is that after a year, they should be better prepared than they are showing.

I don't agree with that comment. If I'm not happy with the product, I should be allowed to voice my unhappiness. I shouldn't have to lower myself to the mindset of "don't like it, don't buy it." That is utter crap. I buy Transformers stuff. That is what I do.

That's actually an entirely different topic and one I really don't care to see, unless someone can post the short short version. The bashing has been over-overdone.

In my opinion, I say give the club a chance since it is the club's first year in exsistence.  Besides, they are doing their best to run the club, every thing can't be perfect you know. They'll learn from their mistakes  :thumb .

I have been satisfied with the service. The newletter has been great, especially the latest with the custom article, and the comic has a decent story line (just a bit confused since I missed out in getting the 1st issue  :tdown ).
