It sounds like to me that he is just talking about the desgins, not the human side of the characters.  TF has had so many faces over the years, it's hard to put it on the same level as Spider-Man.  the most successful Spider-Man has been the way we see him in the movies, TF always changes and is always pretty much the same level of popular.  Personally I hope the movie has the feel of G1, but the robots look more robotic and less like blocks (soundwave I'm looking at you) and not like anime Gundams, but like what he is saying, robots that would exist in the real world.  Basically if their color scheme is similar and they have the same faces, then thats all I need. 

 

Even then, I know it's cliche, but only Optimus is the one I really care about them making look exact.  And my guess is that most of them will have some kind of mask to cover their moth movments so they don't have to animate it.  So hopefully maybe Wheeljack will make it into the film.  And if Hot Rod shows up I will love the movie no matter what.

I wonder what it is about the character that has made such an impression so far beyond what his place in the TF continuity justifies. It didn't happen with Megatron (Starscream is a more iconic Decepticon character from what I've seen). I wonder why.

I'd believe that. Personally it didn't affect me that much because I was a lot more interested in the "new guys" at the time. And I was also like 13 or 14 when I saw the movie, so I wasn't about to get all Daniel-style weepy over Prime dying or anything. To me, that movie is all about Hot Rod and Galvatron. Let Prime die already, clear out the old guys and make room for the new guys.

I don't see any reason not to have Welker and Cullen in the movie. I mean, from a financial standpoint wouldnt it save them money having more than one bots voiced by a single person? The versatility that Welker and Cullen have are what makes me want to hear them in the movie. I mean, they're without a doubt the most talented voice actors i've ever heard.

 

 

On a side note: did anyone else notice that Welker is voicing George in the Curious George movie?
