Oki this is a real kick in the face for transfans I mean they could at least make some new molds i dont care if their not jets . For them There realy just being lazy I wont buy any that are just repaints I think hazbro realy is going to have trouble shifting them

All things considered, this isn't as bad as you think.

Note that the response to the scale says all -cars- will be 1:24 scale, not all vehicles. Sounds like they are considering other vehicles besides cars for the series.

The design and manufacture of something like the Alternators, which attempts to create a transformable robot from and accurate replica of a real vehicle has to be very expensive. Unlike the previous transformers, they can't "cheat" and modify the vehicle design to make the robot work out, so it can take quite a bit of additional design and planning (why do you think some of the newer series have such funky looking vehicles?). Plus there is the license fee they have to pay the original automobile designers.

 

It looks like this is Takara/Hasbro's way to provide some villians rather quickly rather than saying "You can wait 6 months for us to finish these other 2 autobots and then we'll start working on the Decepticons and you'll get maybe two".

 

Hopefully, we'll see some Decepticon jets later on in the series, probably at a smaller scale so that the size of the transformed robots matches rather than the vehicles. I'd like to vote for Thundercracker (with a later repaint as Autobot Jetfire).

 

Though, that brings up an interesting question...

It looks as if the Masterpiece series will be reserved for more primary characters in the series (Prime, Megatron, Hot Rod/Rodimius, Starscream, maybe Soundwave...) so the Alternators will probably be the secondary characters. I can't think of a lot of decepticons that would fit in there from G1 (outside of the Jets, and gestalts, most of them turned into funky, non-vehicle stuff... like the insecticons and terrorcons). So, what second-tier G1 do they have to go with?

 

I know I'll really get flamed for this, but I think an Alternators Bumblebee based off the new beetle would be pretty cool, personally.

Yes, an alternator bumble bee based off the new beatle would be cool. But its been stated many times now that VW will not allow it. Period.

then maybe another similarly small car could be used, just to spite VW :)

 

I'd also like to see a Cliffjumper released based off the "minis" in the 3rd austin powers movie :)

i personally dont like smokescreans paintjob, im waiting for the silverstreak repaint!

one thing i think we can safely assume is that there will be no alternator combiners. Granted, years ago we never thought we'd see something like the alternators, but it still just seems improbable. as for the 'Cons being repainted 'Bots, I'll grab em if they look cool, but i had already gotten used to the idea of an Autobot-only line, and had made peace with that. but what they're talking about is akin to the G2 thing with taking popular characters and turning them into gobots (megatron, soundwave, frenzy, rumble, and optimus, none of whom had a car mode, were now all cars...blech)

 

the only popular (emphasis on popular) Con cars were the Stunticons...and would you folks want un-combinable Stunties?

an uncombining combiner? if they make stunticons they better become menacor or im not buyin it, i was a bit disappointed with sideswipe's gun, and smokescrean i didnt buy either, hound tracks and silverstreak ill probably get

I wasn't thrilled that Silverstreak was just a repainted Smokescreen.

 

I definatley won't be buying a repaint just because it's got a different head and a purple badge.

 

I understand the difficulty of doing jets, but this is really just taking the easy way out.
