I hate alt modes that try to look like real animals... ie the beast wars. The dinobots are great cause they are made to look like robotic animals... but trying to look like real anomals = lame IMO.

I like the cars, tanks and planes

Another factor to keep in mind is where the figure was designed. As a general rule, I think Americans are better at designing beastformers and the Japanese are better at designing vehicle-formers. JMO

G1 Sky Lynx - Best of both worlds

BW Optimus Primal - Gorilla ver 1 (Awesome Alt & Awesome Beast) - Great Accessories too

Car brothers in RiD were awesome molds....

Rail Racer - Best all around combiner mold...

RiD Megatron - Best Multichanger

Armada Bendy Prime Awesome figure

Same with All Jetfire's best figure any mold

Energon Divebomb - Great figure great accessories

Energon Skyblast - Ditto

Energon Scorpinok - Awesome robotic Scorpion

Energon Wing Saber - Great figure - even in it is a block

All Alts are great... yes even battle Ravage

All Minicons are cool - Save for maybe Refute

Cybertron Armorhide - Nuff Said

Cybertron Brimestone - Very Underrated

All Sideways Molds - Great figure, great name, great mold(s)

Cybertron Evac - Cool Features cool modes...

Cybertron Scrouge - Dragons are cool

BWTM2 Megatron - Sweet everything

BW10th - All are good...

So what is the tally?

mm - 6 Beast, 9 Vehicles, 3 Multi

generally I like transformers...lol....

But seriously I seam to lean toward individual figures not groups...

save for minicons <--- is a sucker for minicons

But with that said some of the Animal Modes I am a sucker for

Most Dragon Transformers (Save BM Megatron)

Liger/Lion

Eagle

Ape (Most except for Optimus Minor/TM Optimus Primal)

Most Dinosaurs

The same can't be said for most vehicle modes

Space Shuttles/UFO's (yeah I know there is only one UFO but still)

Alternators - all are soo cool......

Helicopters - Didn't even realize it but I have all new helicopters (from Armada on - save PL Cyclonus)

As far as characters go there are some characters that I can't pass up.....not because of the Alt mode to Bot mode thing but because both modes are usually above par (exceptions noted)

Starscreams - always awesome have to get

Jetfires - Always awesome have to get

Optimus Prime - Mostly Awesome have to get - (yeah Armada Super, & Energon Super weren't in my top 10 but still cool figures specially when combined with others)

Scourge - Always awesome - Anti Prime's rule

Megatron - usually awesome - Mine....

Here is a figure I hardly ever get

Galvatron - Repaints of Megs aren't usually as good as the first ones....

Holy Crap I don't even own a Galvatron (HOC doesn't count)

Some ReColor schemes I hardly ever get too...

Yellow Redeco's - Six Shot, Rapid Run, Optimus Prime, Yellow Landfill

(I Do have Cybertron Swindle, & Alt Swindle, Alt Sunstreaker)

I will get Cannonball Though

I really dislike beastformers in general.  To me, the appeal of TFs when I was younger, as well as today, was the fact that it was like a puzzle to figure out the robot mode from the vehicle mode.  It was so awesome to see realistic looking cars, that could be unfolded and fiddled with to turn into robots, and then back again.  You had two VERY different looking modes.  Hood into chest, doors into wings, trunk into feet, etc.  On a standard beastformer, the beast feet are the bot feet, the beast legs are the bot arms, etc.  This really takes out much of the enjoyment, for me.  I like a few beastformers, but they really have to be exceptional.  Cybertron Scourge, E or C Scorponok, and E Sharkticon are among my favorites, but again, these are the exception, not the norm.

Also, Trukk > Munkey. :)

I love Beast Wars, but I have never seen the point of having animal Transformation modes.

I like futuristic looking vehicles that transform into robots.  Not just your standard Scion....

Ok, so to preface my comment, I have to say that I own every single BW and BM figure that was released in the US. I got into collecting TF during the BW era and it holds a special place in my heart. I love BW figures and the show obviously, but I will admit that I was just crazy excited when RiD came out and had real vehicle modes!!!

Beastformers are great, but TFs are just cooler when they turn into cars, trucks and jets. It is much more impressive when you show someone an Alt/BT and they think it is a model car, then you transform it into a kickass articulated robot. It just isn't as impressive when you take BW Op or Megs and turn them into a kickass robot. People are just like, "oh they made those TF things into animals??"

And I am saying that knowing that the original BW Optimus is probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite figure oh all time (awesome articulation, some major firepower and gimmicks, and a convincing alt mode), so I don't make these comments lightly.

I personally love beastformers, but vehicle alt modes are better, sorry shajaki, but that is just how I feel.

Great topic though!!!

I'm totally with you on that one.  :thumb

C-Scourge still suffers from the animal limbs = robot limbs, though.  Which is why C-Snarl and even C-Backstop are very original and fun toys (well, for C-Backstop, as fun as a McD's Happy Meal toy can get).

C-Scourge has some other things going for him.  1, he is a rather impressive looking dragon in the first place.  2, his color scheme, especially the airburshed purple bits, look fantastic, IMO.  3, he has a decent gimmick, in the extra 2 heads flipping up, and the lights, noise, and weapon are all well done.  Snarl is OK, i guess, but I think Backstop looks pretty silly.  He has a rhino butt for an arm. ;)
