ABS Plastic

Recommended Posts

I feel stupid asking this, but where to find this?

I looked at my local model shop, they didn't have it...

So, I thought I would ask.

Okay, I can help with this;

ABS plastic is available from plastic supply houses. But it's also available in a source not many would consider: old stereo cabinets, video game consoles, electronics cabinets, and toys.

ABS plastic is a high-impact plastic that is used for items that need high tesile and structural strength, so they use it in these things, Just look for the "ABS" imprint on these cases. BTW, they also use styrene for printer cases as well.

FYI: NEVER feel stupid asking about something you don't know. That's what We're here FOR. Remember: The only stupid question is the one you already know the answer to." :thumb

Hope this helps you out.

From what I can tell, most models aren't ABS plastic, except recent MG and PG Gundam kits' inner frames.

Testors model glue probably melts ABS plastic down either way, so there shouldn't be a problem.  :thumb

my bad..... but still, my friend that the plastic for sale signs work very well... im acctually starting to think of trying to make a trailer for my 20th Prime out of it if I can find one the right length..

And, just to check, ABS plastic is better for joints, right?

I am asking because I am planning a scratch build project, and I want to use the right plastic.

A trailer, that will be cool, will it open like the G1 trailer?
