I got a Star Wars Transformer today

Recommended Posts

Seriously, I bought the Darth Vader SW TF today, after all my Starscreaming about them, and I have to say that it's the worst, poorly made piece of tat I have bought in years. The cloak/wing keeps coming apart, the head falls off every time I move it, the darth vader figure won't fit inside it properly when in vehicle mode, and if I try to move it with anything other than minimal force, it feels like it's going to fall to pieces.

As a long time fan of both franchises, I would put this toy in the same class as the Star Wars/Mariokart rip off game, and the Wheelie figure, honestly, it's that bad. I really wanted to try to like the figure, as much as I disliked the look of it, but you know how sometimes a figure can look crap in photos & packaging (Cybertron Snarl REALLY is much better out of the box), this is a whole new level in wasting a good license (one exception, I have just seen the millennium falcon TF pics, and don't get me started on that one). What makes it worse, is that I bought a couple of Cybertron figures today, as well, and I think the line has some of the best TF's in years, so why are the SW TF's so poor? The figure is now residing at the back of my cupboard, probably never to see the light of day again.

I, too, am a longtime fan of both franchises.  But this goes to show that putting two popular ideas together may not always be the best move...

I'm sure there are people out there who like the new SW/TF but I don't care for them.

I guess two great tastes don't always taste great together.  I too like both franchises (though I'm way more of a TF fan), but I think this is one project that should have styed on the drawing board.

Wow...my Vader has none of those problems. It's probably the only fig I'll buy, though. We'll have to see.

I think that even if mine didn't have these problems, I would still be dissapointed in the figure. It makes me mad to think of what they could have done with the license, though

went to walmart today and had to decide between General Grievous and Sunstreaker.  Of course, I went for sunstreaker.  I will eventually buy a Starformer preferably Vader.

If you only own 1, it should be vader.

I keep finding it quite easy to resist buying Grievous and Luke, the 2 I have left...

Luke is much more satisfying outside of the box.

Greivous is exactly what he was in E3 and not Clone Wars - which means - hes WTF no matter how you look at him.

Obiwan is surprisingly satisfying.

Hunter

(who is still looking forward to the Falcon - stfu all you  naysayers)

Luke is much more satisfying outside of the box.

Obiwan is surprisingly satisfying.

Either of those quotes would make a great sig.  :thumb  :tflaugh

Seriously though, my Vader really disappointed me.  I can't get the little Vader fig to fit in the thing properly in EITHER mode.  And the wing that has hinges, I guess the cape one, just won't stay together in vehicle mode.

In all seriousness, this was the figure that convinced me to sell my collection.  In a roundabout way, but this purchase was the straw that broke the camel's back.

*reads about SW TFs online months ago*

*says "Wow, what a lame idea."*

*sees pics of SW TFs online, weeks ago*

*says "Wow, I was right, those do look lame."*

*sees Darth Vader TF in Target, days ago*

*says "Wow, it looks even lamer in person."*

*immediately grabs bot and runs to the counter to buy it anyway*

*gets home*

*opens Vader TF*

*says "Yup.  Lamest thing I have ever seen."*

*realizes that collecting has become more of an addiction than a hobby*

*sells collection*
