I've been a member for a year, and I haven't seen this Magnus link before....  Forgive me if it's old news...

 

I stumbled upon this site where this guy is doing MP Ultra Magnus armor and MP Megatrons! 

 

Awesome detail, crazy expensive!

 

It's sad, because it shows what is possible with Magnus.  I'd buy a similar (reasonably priced) mainstream release for sure...

i think the guy who made them has a step by step in the customs and kitbashes area

You know i thought he did an amazing job with the Magnus Trailer/Armor and on that Megatron that hes working on so i can kind of see the substantial price he's asking for them, still out of my league but about justified seeing as how much time he put into them.  As for the Alt. Prowl repaint though, i think that's total rip.  200 dollars for a repainted WRX alt. with missle launchers?  a 100 maybe... but still on the high end imo, but 200 that's just outrageous, i'm sure dedicated kitbashers on these boards would cut someone a break for a repaint like that and with some of the talented people we got here it would look just as good.

I'm doing a custom Alt "G1" Prowl for a friend right now for around $100(it's a trade, not a money exchage), but I ain't sportin' the skills to make a Megs like anemis either (that custom just flat out owns!).  However, I have considered my materials and my time and both parties agreed it was fair.

 

One of the reasons I started making customs myself was that I wanted certain TFs, I have talent in art, and I didn't have the cash flow to pay someone else a lot of money to make em for me. 

 

I've always found it hard to price artwork because it seems people don't want to pay much for art and I also don't want to risk being insulted myself.  I try to make prices reasonable when I charge for artwork, and when someone says something like "that's crazy, you gotta be stupid for charging that much!" it hurts. 

 

One thing good anemis does is that he makes his work and just posts his prices.  You either take it or leave it. 

 

I love his MP Prime trailer, his Magnus trailer is cool, and his Megs just flat out owns.  Granted I don't have the money to pay him to make each of those for me (and I may try making my own at some point), but I've talked to people who have invested in his trailers and they are extremely happy with them.  If someone is in a financial situation that allows them such luxuries, that's cool.  Someone, such as myself, may not be able to afford X, but despite what I may or may not think price-wise about X, I can just pass (or make my own  :tfgrin )
