BTA Sunstreaker-- loosey goosey

Recommended Posts

Okay,

So I've taken my BTA Sunstreaker out of the box.  He transforms fine, all his pieces match up great.  But I noticed after I TF'd him a couple of times that now in his robot mode he can't seem to stand up under his own weight too well.

Now I've mostly bought Alts and I've never had this problem, has anyone else run into this?  It's not a major flaw, as I can stand him posed pretty well but it is a bit annoying.  'Specially since he was a birthday gift.

"Diecast construction. It's a lost art."

All that weight is murder on already poorly thought out ankles and legs.

Common problem with the Viper molds I'm affraid.

Is it by any chance a loose heel section??

I've got BT Lambor/Sideswipe myself and have no problem whatsoever with loose joints, and I've transformed him several times. Paintchipping, that's another story (took all of one transformation for the paint of the hood's edges to chip.

Probably has a lot to do with mold degradation. Slap some nailpolish or plastic welder on the ball joints and they should be tight again.

My Sunstreaker is ok but my Shockwave looks like he has a fit of the vapors, he is always at a half faint like he cant bear to stand anymore, I tried tightening the screws to no avail.

Crazy Glue. That worked on my BT Hound. I put crazy glue on his hip balls and reattached his legs while the glue was still fresh. After like 10 minutes, I had to force them at first but now his hips are as tight as the Corvette mold knees.

I concur with the mold degredation opinion.

My BT Lambor and Dead End have waaay tighter joints than Sunstreaker.

I'd go with the clear nail-polish method.  If you're not careful the fumes from Crazy Glue can potentially damage the plastic.

The heels seem to be the only REALLY loose part of my BTA Sunstreaker.

Apart from a heavily chipped, smudged and bubbled paint job and some glue or something stuck to the top of his head, my Streaker is fine.

In fact he's stiffer than most of my Alts.
