Carnivac vs. Bludgeon: Let's Play Pretend

“Carnivac vs. Bludgeon: Let's Play Pretend

Little backstory for those not in the know:

In the UK comics, Carnivac was sort of a BW-Dinobot precursor.  He was a Decepticon who teamed up with a small group of Autobots against a common enemy, Galvatron.  After Galvy's defeat, Carnivac and the then-Decepticon Catilla maintained their tense truce with the 'Bots they'd fought alongside.  This was viewed as treason by the 'Con High Command, and a squad was sent to destroy everyone involved.  They only succeeded in killing Catilla (who fell to the squad leader, Bludgeon), but this sent Carny into a vengeful rage.  He began stalking the execution squad, destroying them one by one.  His attack on Bludgeon ended in more or less a draw, and Bludgeon's eventual defeat took the form of mere imprisonment in a 'Bot cell.  But then he escaped anyway, and it's hard to imagine that he and Carny would never cross paths again...

So.  Comments, critiques, etc.?

That is awesome work! The whole 'wolf/survivors' saga was one of my favourite and the character of Carnivac was one of Furmans best writes. (at this stage Bludgeon was still being developed but later also became a favouite) I'm sure the two still had much unfinshed business to work out between them.

The angle is really good on the art and I like the way you've drawn carnivac to look somewhere between his comic/toy form. The format of the pic is also good (as they're both highly renowned stealthy warriors) as it looks like C's got the drop on B (pretender) but B is lurking above in the shadows, BUT, C's pretender is just visible above B! (phew)

Nice bit of duplicity and really makes the scene work. You obviosuly have a talent for TF art - how about some more UK comic scenes, say when the wreckers/mayhems walk into Galvatrons lair in time wars!!!

wow thats a kick ass drawing

i do love the artwork shared in this forum. awsome work!

i almost mistook it for DW for a moment, but then i realized it was too good. But why are their reg. and pretender modes made as separate entities?

Pretenders control the shells with their minds so two bots could fight at once.

Also that is great.  Nice detail on the chacaters. :clap  :clap

Thank you for the replies, people!  They're all really awesome to hear.

Thank you!

....Really?  I was just going from the toy.  (In fact, Carny's robot mode is the only toy in the pic I own.  I don't even have his gun.)  I thought I'd ignored his comic model entirely.  :)

Oh, I've always got plenty of pic ideas on the back burner, though I don't think any of them are UK-comic based at the moment.  It's rich territory, though, so you never know.  It'd be hard for Galvy not to figure in it if I went that way... :)

Heh heh.  Thanks.

Greensight's got it right.  The thing to keep in mind is that there are a couple of feints going on:  1) Bludgeon is using his shell as bait to lure Carny into range.  But 2) Carny realizes this and is using his own robot mode as bait to distract Bludgeon from the wolf-shell that's about to pounce on him.

See?  Simple!  ;)

On second viewing it does look a lot closer to the toy mode. I think I was mainly comparing it to the DW MTMTE version, your one's much better. Keep it up.

Great choice on persepctive!
