I am new to the BW era of transformers and like the looks of this guy and the small amount of research i did said he was a internet promo. Is he rare and paying $3 for him misb was a good deal or is he a craptastic fig?

$3 for a Japanese deluxe (or larger figure) is good no matter how you look at it.

He may be a craptastic figure anyway....

for some possible leads.... whats his name?

whats his size class? does he have an american counterpart?

it kind of looks like a all black Cheetor.

That's Shadow Panther aka Tripredacus Agent.  not too difficult to find, even on US soil.  $3 is a fair price ( i beleive I paid $8 for mine 2 years back)

yeah. others have said ravage even. it is indeed a repaint of cheetor, exclusive to japan, but not rare as stated above. wered you get it for 3? im looking to get one, cheapest i found was 13.

well hes the most common of all the ravage BW style cats and your one is one that was sold throgh hasbro's online store way back not an import hence the big hasbro logo on the front still $3 is a gr8 price for any MISB japanese beast wars and its a gr8 toy

my bad. didnt know he was available like that.

Probably the same ebay auction that I got mine from.  :thumb $3.00 isn't a bad deal, if I say so myself! Although my seller claimed it to be a BW Ravage figure.  :tfmad

Anyways... it isn't really that bad of a figure. It's the Tripredicus Agent Shadow Panther, which is a black repaint of Cheetor. There is also a Predacon Tripredicus Agent that was a Wal Mart exclusive BW Metals figure that I also have. That one was WAY cooler. :)

Good find!

Not a bad find for $3.  Congrats.

I have a japanese misb tigatron with the hasbro sticker on the front. What's that mean about mine? was he also as hasbro.com thing? I almost picked up the black one at cybercon last year but passes for some reason...it was like $10 there.
