Turning Transformer parts WHITE

Recommended Posts

Ok, I have 2 situations:

1. I have a Armada (Energon, what ever) Ultramagnus figure MISSING his lower right arm.  I replaced it with a normal Prime’s arm and was thinking of trying bleach to turn it white, rather than use paint.

2. I am getting a yellowed Diaclone Sunstreaker in a couple days.  I am seriously considering using whitening bleach to change the color back from yellow to white.

Will this kill the plastic?  Or simply not work at all?  Has anyone tried this?

I have planned to try this trick on a junk TF I have laying around, but different items were made different times and places and might be different results.

Just from previous experience, and looking at conversations on this and other boards, you'll never get that yellowing out, the plastic has chemically changed forever.  Nothing will change that back to white - the only real solution is to go over the top of it with paint.

Don't use whitening bleach - you'll likely damage the plastic and wreck the figure entirely!

could always try yhe krylon fusion paint. Ive never tried it myself, but ive seen the results on here of thos who have, and it really looks amazing

Ug, I guess its ok, my Diaclone Police Sideswipe is also a little yellowed...

I can't PAINT a original Diaclone.

i've heard commet counter top cleaner takes the top later of plstic off that is yellowed... but not sure... just what i've heard.

Actually, to get the yellow out w/o harming the plastic, use an oxy pad on the plastic. This should remove most of the yellowing.

you see, the oils in the plastic begin to thicken and discolor with age; this is where the yellowing effect comes from.

After doing this, try rubbing a samlll amount of vaseline into the plastic,(MAKE SURE YOU AVOID THE DECALS!!! OR HAVE ONES FROM REPROLABES READY TO USE AFTERWARDS!0 and allow to sit overnight. then, the next day, take a soft cloth and wipe down the plastic. the vaseline replaces the oils lost in the de-yellowing process. iIve used this process before, and I was able to restore a badly-yellowed G1 jetfire and wheeljack with this. Good luck! :thumb
