Maybe Hastak will have better luck acquiring licenses now that the toys are on the shelf and are uber popular? *hopes*

I don't think they can be considered "uber popular" - unfortunately, they aren't even a blip on the pop culture radar.

I do think having more models as examples and Has/Tak's willingness to acquiesce to manufactures' demands (such as Honda USA's "no gun" edict) should help get new manufactureres into the fray.

I heard they showed up on a soap opera before. Even Dcharge was there alegedly.

A nice read - gives added insight and appreciation to the figures.

I think its all too easy for the fandom to say "This is Lazy" or "That was a missed opportunity"

just the comments regarding the factories requirements of each peice be a certain size/weight and how thataffects the designers made me say "Wow".

Awsomeness in that the Hummer is now an "Official" rumor and not just lamo fanboy speculation.

Thanks to the translators and thanks to Hastakomy!

It's not a rumor if the designer wants to make it.... it's "wishful thinking" :tflaugh

A really great read, though. I'm glad that they share my disappointment regarding Sideswipe's visible Autobot symbol.

It doesn't make me like Hasbro any more, though. But of course this was an interview with Takara people, who are obviously a bit frustrated with the limitations imposed upon them by Hasbro.

To be fair though - its also a bunch of designers (read as: artists)

frustrated with their corporations/businesses/employers

not JUST a Hasbro vs. Takara thing - although the folks in the trenches  may see it that way...

Hunter

Yeah, true. I'm sure the Hasbro designers are just as frustrated. But then Archer did say that that was the big source of contention - designers vs. marketers. Which of course makes perfect sense if you think about it. It's the old "artist / patron" thing.

My blood almost got pumping when I read that. It's gives me a good feeling that they'd even consider making one with the whole "The Ram has to be Prime" thing.

I like the grass is greener comment. Japanese fans buying Alts and us buying BT. :)

My impressions are, if Hasbro had full say we'd probably have really affordable, highly playable toys, that wouldn't necessarily be Geewun redux.

I would have preferred all plastic construction with high end paint for both lines as a compromise. They wouldn't have to worry about seperate tooling for diecast and plastic and all of the decisions in between. It's a niche product so I feel a more unified approach would be better.

I'm in full agreement with Takara's initial vision for the line. I disagree with their idea of sizing down though. I get the vibe that they want to do a full-on Hybrid Style like line. Luckily Hasbro saved the day and we got 1/24.

A solely Takara produced line would have ended up fragile, highly detailed, uncompromising, and uber expensive. Not unlike Yamato's offerings. I'd be really poor, but I'd eat it up with a spoon.
