Machine Wars!

Recommended Posts

I don't remember MW too well.  I know it was an exclusive by Kaybees.  I'm just interested in the storyline.  Who is the main baddy?  And if it is ol' Megs, why just a little jet plane.  I also heard something about Megs' clone Megaplex

There really much of a story to Machine Wars, just what was on the tech specs which didn't state much.

Megatron did have a clone, but that was the most "new" stuff in the story.

All I remember is that I didn't pick up any of the figs. :thumb

I missed out on it. But I'm so much happier with the re-decos that popped up in Universe and Robot Masters.

IMO MW seemed like a joke next to Beast Wars. It was like Okay, This Prime is ugly and a brick. This Soundwave is ugly and a brick. Megs is a.........minibot :wtf Starscream is Mildly interesting, bigger than Megs  and a brick.  http://www.tfu.info/1997/Autobot/OptimusPr...ptimusprime.htm

Only thing I remember about the story is some fan made story that gave these bots the same story as BW. They landed on a war destroyed earth where they needed to become earth vehicles to protect their robot parts from the toxic radiation in the air.  :roll

They were bricks because most of them were European G1 molds repainted, except for a the flip changers which were unreleased G2 molds.

I just read this. Still didn't stop my non internet havin ass from thinking these bots were a huger step backward than Armada after RiD. If MW was Armada molds, I'd have been all over that.

I don't remember where I read this, but MW was supposed to be tie in to G1. Megatron was in the little body, because they were building a bigger form...Megaplex was to act as a decoy if anyone took advange of Megatron's current state...however before Megatron could get his new body, Starscream's spark possesed it....hense Megatron being a shrimp, having a clone, and Starscream being frikkin' huge in comparison.

...But given my poor memory, I might just be putting together this storyline from sugar packets and fan-related ideas.

I think it mostly fan created ideas since the tech spec I remember are just slight rewrites of G1 & G2 specs.

Nope no real story at all. More like they thought they were going to make a story but then said, "eh na."

Megaplex was the only new character.

The four big guys were redecos of G1 Euro exclusives. (They also had limited release in Canada.) Those actually had a storyline.

Optimus Prime =  Thunderclash

Starscream = Skyquake

Sandstorm = Rotorstorm

Soundwave = Stalker

As you can see they took away the missiles for most of them. That was actually one of the main gimmicks for the Turbomasters/Predators.  :roll

As for Megatron being a little jet, I guess because the already molded his head for it.

The main "baddy" for the Turbomasters was Predator Skyquake.

Bah they have more articulation than a brick.  :tftongue

They are old toy technology but they are classics. It would be great if they took the Robotmaster/Alternator idea to recreate all the old G1 toys.(Anniversary Prime) Maybe they are waiting for after the movie.
