Machine Wars!

Recommended Posts

So that's where Universe King Atlas came from. :eek

If Universe/Machine Wars did anything for these toys it's improved the colour scheme. Also They don't look any more/less bricks than most of G1. Personally I don't have a problem with any of the molds and actually think the Thunderclash mode is pretty cool, and unique. Don't have him yet but it's vast improvement over what was done with power master OP. It's unfortunate the North American variations stripped away the rapid firing gimicks.

I'm not sure why they were removed when G2s Darkwing could rapid fire 6 missils at once. Surprisingly the gimick stayed with the later Dreadwind/Smokejumper set from either Armada or Rid.

Dreadwing/Smokescreen was a straight-up G2 mold, no Machine Wars stuff about it...mine came with like, 16 missles or something.

Thought so. The first I remember of seeing of it was in the G2 comics. I think the toy made a one page cameo appearnce. Mine came with 14 which I think is what the toy may have had originally. 6 in the rapid firing mechanism, 6 on the wings, and two for Smokejumpers guns. Also the original colours on this mold totally pawn the recent release. :thumb

Correct. I got the original release back when it was new for Christmas one year.

Ditto. *Reminices*

I prefer the MW colors over the colors European releases.  MW Optimus may be a brick, but he's a BIG and pretty one.  Plus he has a mouth!  MW overall really was not that bad of a line.  Plasticky and gimmicky, yes.  But you have to remember this was a line that was once destined for G1.

I was so happy when I found the Optimus Prime one at a Kay-Bee outlet store, then I got him home, and he totally sucked.  But I remember reading a fan tech spec where it said Optimsu was actually Rodimus, because in the middle of a battle Rodimus gets mortally wounded, so Ultra Magnus, thinking he still had a destiny to fulfil, sacrifices his own body, so that Rodimus can have it.  Made me like the figure a little better.  I just thought the idea was cool, because can you imagine Roddy if his best freind sacrificed himself so that he could live.  He had a hard enough time with the Matrix, but forced to use Ultra Magnus's body would have driven him insaine.

Pretty :wtf  Red White blue and.........Green arms.

Personally I like the Turbomasters and Predators a lot but then again I got the originals which still have the missiles.  :thumb

The issue with the missiles is not the rapid-fire gimmick, but the fact that the missiles are a below-standard length, not much more than an inch long, instead of the required 3 inches, and the fact that the springs are inanely strong, capable of launching the danged pellets clear across a room, and with quite a bit of force.  That's a major safety hazard if I ever saw one.
