Exactly, but in line with what Glue was saying above:  Hot Shot is simply the current incarnation of the "young, rush to action, uhhh... 'hot shot'  :redface and will eventually be a great leader" character, shoes previously filled by Hot Rod and Cheetor in previous stories. 

I say no he is not!  In G1 Hot Rod becomes Rodimus Prime.  In Eneregon Hot Shot and Rodimus are two separate characters.

Yeah, every TF series now has a young idiot who gets molded into a leader.

 

Cheetor matured in BW, then led in BM.

 

Armada Hot Shot got into a lot of trouble at the beginning, lost the Star Saber, got pounded by Scavenger, yet he was the one that Optimus gave the Armada-verse version of the Matrix to, and he led the Autobots until Optimus came back, and even afterwards he led the strike force against Unicron himself.

Rodimus Prime and E-Rodimus were very different character types.  One was a young leader who was unsure of himself, the other was a very seasoned, totally bas-ass 'bot.

E-Hot Shot was a good progression on his Armada incarnation.  He was one of Optimus' most trusted lieutenants.

So is Armada Jetfire supposed to be ultra magnus then? :tflaugh

see that would have been cool if at the end of Energon you realize that Rodimus is a future version of Hot Shot.  But alas, I think they ended up making Rodimus a bad guy. don't know I never watched that show that much.  I didn't realise that Hot shot was 2nd in command to Optimus most of the time, that does make me feel a little better about him being Roddys replacment, but still, his Armada form was retarded.  He looks like the robot equivelant of that fat kid at Gamestop who wants to tell ou about all the secret levels that didn't make it into Legend of Zelda.

 

But his new form is pretty cool though, so i should let up.  and everyone's form in Armada was pretty retarded

Energon Hotshot had as much personality as G1 Prowl or Bluestreak........Which was none if you dont remember.

I think Energon Rodimus is G1 Rodimus..........remember in all those flashbacks Rodimus and hotshot had of the image of a shadowed autobot (rodimus) holding a flag with all those G1 bots around him? (i spotted ironhide and bumblebee immediately)
