Picked it up yesterday and had to say I was thoroughly impressed. EJs artwork was a nice new take on things - although saying that I still prefer Don/Guido's work. The story was intriguing and a nice way to introduce things - not surprising as it was written by none other than 'the man' Furman. I was very disappointed the way that the Dreamwave comics fizzled out mid-stride and hopefully will be able to get into the IDW version just as much. One question though, who are the silhouettes on the inside front cover representing the 2 factions? My guesses are:

Autobots:

Ratchet

Prowl

Ironhide

Sunstreaker

Bumblebee

Jazz

Wheeljack

Optimus

Decepticons:

Runabout

Runamuck

Starscream

Thundercracker

Skywarp

Blitzwing (?)

Soundwave

Megatron

Anyone agree/disagree?

I thought the comic rocked. Thank good no middle school kids are in it this time. So sick of seeing 12 year olds hanging out with tfs, that's so lame. They brought down armada and kicker was a little Starscream in energon. At least spike was cool back in the day.

I can't wait to so how prime looks in this new series. I'd die if I saw grapple!

I was intrigued by Furman's interview at the end and how Prime and Megatron wont really feature until later in the series because they are deemed moreso as a last resort.

Overall, I was happy with it.  The new designs for the seekers are I guess made to look like Raptor jets, but they look kinda like Energon Starscream.  Other than that, it was wa great teaser, and I'm actually glad they are starting this all over from scratch.  There was too many continuty problems in the other series (all of them), so this fresh, non-kiddie take on it is cool.  And it was great that it was only a dollar.

I liked it too.  Aside from people not getting paid, I think DreamWave going under was a good thing.  This new version of Transformers is really good.

Can we get this merged into the ongoing dicussion in the COMIC forum?

I liked the reset, but it looks like it will be a while before we get to what DW just stareted doing. The small group/solo stories that let you explore the fringe charachters. This is the sort of thing you can only do after about 10 issues of continuity. Also, this better be an ongoing. I don't mind six parters, but at least let the next six parter start on issue 7, yes.

I thought they'd be featured right away, but not fight until they were needed.
